Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 19

The moment Giselle reached home, she plopped down on the bed, utterly drained.

Her skull felt like it was about to crack open.

At this point, she had no idea when her veterinary clinic could resume normal operations. Apart from dealing with the clinic's tarnished reputation, staff turnover, and premise shutdown, she still had to handle the court case and compensation.

She'd also suffered injuries after being beaten up by Sebastian. Aside from some superficial wounds, some of her organs were affected as well. She had no choice but to end up being hospitalized for a few days.

Yet, she didn't call the police.

The Holt family owed her too much—Rebecca's life, her grandparents' lives, and the Moore family's business empire. She had to force herself to calm down and figure out what she should do in the long run…

Giselle used to dream of cutting ties with her twisted family, each going their separate ways and never interfering with each other again.

But now, backed into a corner with old grudges and fresh wounds weighing on her, she felt a burning need for revenge like never before.

One thing she was certain about was that the marriage alliance between Anne and Donovan was what the Holt family valued most right now.

With branches worldwide and tens of thousands of employees, Kane Pharmaceutical Group was a pioneer in the industry. Beyond core pharmaceutical R&D, production, and sales, their empire also extended into medical devices, real estate, finance—almost every field. Their brand alone was worth over 100 billion dollars.

Needless to say, Renee and Tony had been looking forward to joining forces with such a powerful family.

So, to truly destroy the Holts, Giselle had to go through that man. Just that thought alone filled her with a newfound purpose.

Two weeks flew by.

Having mostly recovered, Giselle was back to her prime condition.

This morning, she cleaned and washed herself thoroughly. She spent nearly two hours on her makeup and outfit.

The CEO's office was on the executive floor, and it was off-limits to most. Only top management or the CEO's assistants with keycard and facial recognition access were allowed in.

But she had come prepared. With practiced ease, she entered a password and took the elevator straight up to the tenth floor.

Finally, she arrived in front of Donovan's office.

His secretary happened to be away, so without hesitation, she opened the heavy door.

Inside, Donovan was reclining in his leather chair, eyes closed. He seemed to be resting, too tired to notice the intrusion right away.

Giselle quietly locked the door behind her and stepped closer. Her heels made no noise on the plush carpet.

Only when she reached his desk did he suddenly open his eyes—as if he had caught a familiar whiff of perfume in the air.
