Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 192

"What happened?" Giselle asked frantically, her face full of worry.

Gideon replied reluctantly, "While I was asking Uncle Ethan for the medicine last night, I overheard him talking about Donovan.

"We're not sure if it was because he suffered a cardiac arrest in the cold storage room, but he abruptly fell unconscious again soon after he woke up. I think he has some kind of infection in his brain."

Giselle's breathing quickened as the color drained from her face. Shaking her head, she muttered to herself, "How could this happen? This can't be…"

She then asked in disbelief, "Didn't he already make a full recovery? Why has his condition worsened?"

Before Gideon could reply, she fumbled for her phone and her car keys before declaring, "I-I'm going to go see him right now. He's at St. Haven Hospital, isn't he? I'll head there immediately!"

Without another word, she stumbled out of the door. She didn't even seem concerned about her dog anymore. She just wanted to get to the hospital as quickly as possible so she could see Donovan.

Once Gideon got her dog settled, he swiftly closed the door and followed her down the escalator.

Giselle was seated in the passenger's seat. Her mind was racing as she stared out of the window of the moving vehicle. She felt extremely anxious.

Once they got to the hospital, she approached the reception desk and found out that Donovan was in the ED-ICU.

She headed to the emergency department and saw that the door was closed. Upon thinking about how Donovan was in critical condition, she crouched helplessly in the corner of the room. She felt incredibly defeated.

Gideon didn't like the fact that Giselle was so worried about the well-being of her ex. However, despite how he felt, he still had to offer her some words of comfort.

"He's probably going to be fine. Don't worry about it too much," he told her.

She didn't reply.

Every passing minute felt agonizing to her. When she couldn't take it any longer, she asked Gideon to accompany her to Tony's office on the tenth floor.

Grace eyed Giselle with disdain and continued maliciously, "This is all that brat's fault. She's made both Zach and Don's lives miserable now.

"If she wasn't making our lives a mess, Don wouldn't be so fixated on his work. If he didn't check the inventory in the cold storage room in the middle of the night, he wouldn't have ended up like this."

Dorothea, who'd always been extremely superstitious, was now convinced that Giselle was to blame for all the Kane family's recent misfortunes. However, with Tony in the room and Donovan's life hanging by a thread, she had no energy to lash out. Instead, she simply sat down and let out a deep sigh.

"Do you think this will leave Don with any complications down the road, Dr. Holt?" Ethan asked.

Tony didn't sound very optimistic.

"His condition is actually quite serious. We've already done everything that's necessary. Let's just wait for him to wake up before we discuss anything else," he replied.

He continued, "Once he's awake, the follow-up treatment should be enough to prevent any serious aftereffects. I'm afraid it all depends on the condition of his health."
