Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 209

"Okay," Giselle replied.

She immediately dialed Tony's cell.

"What's it?" Tony had just finished surgery and was peeling off his gown, tugging the mask from his face to breathe.

"What time are you getting home tonight?" Giselle's tone was cool. "I need to speak with you in person."

"Say it over the phone."

"I'm getting married," she said plainly, unwilling to waste words on her biological father.

"You're getting married? Who's the man?"

"You'll find out when you see him."

"Fine." Tony was genuinely curious now about who her fiance might be. "I'll come home early tonight. Bring him to dinner."

She didn't like the idea, but if showing up meant she could get her documents without a fight, she'd take the path of least resistance.

By six or seven that evening, Giselle arrived at the Holt residence with Gideon in tow.

"Good evening, Mrs. Holt." Gideon made sure to give Renee that courtesy. After all, they were under her roof and here on business. It didn't hurt to maintain a polite tone.

But Renee still remembered the kick he'd landed on her at the hospital, and her back ached even now. She wasn't about to greet him warmly. Still, after finding out he was Ethan's favored foster son, she couldn't openly offend him either.

Her reply was a model of frosty politeness. "Mr. Grayson, is it? I won't hold the hospital incident against you for your Uncle Ethan's sake. But you're not welcome in my home. Please leave."

Tony shot her a glare. "Why make an issue of it? Show some class." Then he turned to Gideon with a smile. "Don't mind her. I invited you. Sit, we'll have dinner soon."

"There's no need for dinner." Giselle crossed her arms. "We're just here for my documents. We're getting our marriage paperwork, so let's make it quick."
