Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 222

"Giselle has been kidnapped," Gideon ground out.

Donovan's heart clenched.

"This is none of your business. I'll get her out as soon as possible," Gideon muttered, shaking off Donovan's hand and heading for the elevator.

"Explain everything clearly!" Donovan blocked his way again, his piercing gaze locked onto him. "Who did this? What do they want? Tell me how much money they are asking for. I'll get it right now!"

"You don't need to get involved." Gideon took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "Just remember not to call the police."

"You're fucking kidding," Donovan snapped.

He trusted their local police and immediately pulled out his phone to dial 911. Before he could place the call, Gideon snatched the phone from his hand in a flash.

"I told you not to call the police!" Gideon hissed. "They're after me, and I know exactly what kind of people they are. If the police get involved, Giselle's is finished!"

As he spoke, he showed Donovan a video he had just received.

Donovan clicked on the video. The moment he saw Giselle's miserable state, his heart sank. His face went pale, and his hands began to tremble.

Enraged, he hurled the phone at Gideon. "You keep saying you're going to marry her, spending every day by her side. And you still let this happen?"

Gideon's heart was in turmoil, too. He couldn't refute Donovan.

"Now isn't the time to argue," he said solemnly. "I'll make sure nothing happens to her. This has nothing to do with you, so stay out of it. I'll find a way to save her."

"Then stop talking and do something," Donovan snapped, still set on calling the police.

"Get in touch with them immediately," he pressed, though his nerves were fraying. "Find out what they want."

Gideon dialed the number again, but it wouldn't connect. The kidnappers were toying with him, not in a hurry to make demands.

He quickly typed out a message. "I won't call the police. Tell me what you want. I just need to know she's safe. As long as she's unharmed, I'll agree to any condition. If it's money, I can have it ready within two hours."

He sent the text right after, but more than ten minutes passed with no reply.

Anxiety gripped Gideon. He called the number repeatedly, but it still wouldn't connect.

Donovan was growing impatient in the corridor too. He still wanted to keep track of Giselle's incident, so he ushered Gideon back to his office.
