Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 235

Neither Adrian nor the housekeepers dared to go near Donovan in the villa. They exchanged uneasy looks and quietly busied themselves cleaning up the mess.

Before long, a man stepped through the front door. It was Zachary.

He had been in Usna for some time, working on his graduation thesis. It was only yesterday that he heard about what had happened to Giselle, and he couldn't stop himself from boarding his private jet to rush back home.

After hearing the full story from Ethan, he, too, had gone two days and nights without a wink of sleep. His emotions were tangled—there was grief, heaviness, and a deep, quiet ache. After all, she was once a woman he'd been completely infatuated with.

He was worried about Donovan, so he came over to check on him.

"Uncle Don." Zachary walked up to the couch with one hand in his pocket. After taking in Donovan's unshaven face and haggard appearance, he couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy.

Donovan merely lifted his gaze. When he saw who it was, his voice came out flat and tired. "Leave. Don't bother me."

"I've heard about what happened to Giselle. I never imagined it would happen so abruptly and tragically," Zachary said quietly. "But… it's been a week. I hope you can find a way to move on."

Ever since he recovered from the car accident, Zachary's outlook on life had changed a great deal. He hadn't contacted Giselle in a long while, and when he'd recently heard she was going to marry another man, he'd spent days in Usna feeling low.

"In the end, it was that guy who ruined her. If she hadn't gone back and married him, she never would've been caught up in this mess. She'd still be alive right now…"

Anne stepped inside, heading upstairs to the master bedroom. Pushing the door open gently, she found him lying on the bed, fast asleep. The whole room reeked of alcohol, and he seemed to be dreaming, murmuring something she couldn't make out.

All of a sudden, he called out, "Giselle!" His eyes were shut, and his handsome yet haggard face was twisted in pain, as if he were being burned alive. "Gi… Giselle! No! Come back! Don't go… I need you… I need…"

He clenched his fists as he called out Giselle's name, his body tossing and turning restlessly. Anne couldn't tell if he was in the grip of a nightmare or if he was in physical pain.

"Don!" she couldn't bear to watch any longer. She rushed to his side, patting him urgently. "Wake up, Don! Come on, wake up!"
