Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 237

Right after that, Gideon climbed into the driver's seat, slammed the door shut, and shot out of the underground garage, weaving recklessly through traffic.

Anne had no idea what he was up to. Bound and lying awkwardly on the back seat, she tried to push herself upright, only to be thrown back down every time he slammed the brakes. She couldn't even get on her feet in the speeding car, the motion making her dizzy and disoriented.

Gideon never once tore his eyes away from the road. His expression was dark and unreadable, and he didn't utter a single word.

Anne had no idea how long they'd been driving, but the car eventually rolled to a stop at Orrensund Bridge, the same place where he'd once confronted the kidnappers. Gideon parked on the deserted bridge, jumped out, yanked open the back door, and roughly dragged her out, shoving her to the ground.

Sprawled on the ground, she couldn't get up, glaring at him furiously. He tore the rag from her mouth, his hand clamping down hard on her jaw. His eyes burned with rage as he growled, "You called the cops and got her killed, didn't you? Why did you do it?"

Faced with the man's rough handling, she was so furious she lost all reason. "So what if I did? She deserved to die! If you have the guts, go after the ones who threw her off the bridge. What kind of coward are you, coming after me?" she exploded.

The crack of his slap echoed in the air.

Anne screamed before cursing, "You filthy bastard! How dare you lay a hand on me? My parents won't let you get away with this! You're committing a crime right now!"

Gideon didn't care. He got to his feet and drove his boot hard into her side.

Anne let out another piercing shriek. "Y-You're a fucking monster! I'm telling you, I'm carrying Donovan's child, an heir of the Kanes. If anything happens to me, Mrs. Kane Senior will make sure you pay, and your godfather won't spare you either!"

Her tears and snot smeared across her face as she sobbed, desperation breaking her voice. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said those things! I'm begging you, please don't kill me! I've never done anything to you; please don't kill me!"

Gideon's last shred of reason kept him from letting go, but he still left her hanging over the edge, forcing her to feel the same bone-deep terror Giselle must have felt that day.

Her whole body went rigid as she clung to him with all her strength, not daring to move even an inch. Overwhelmed with guilt and fear she had never felt before, she kept pleading for mercy through her tears.

Ultimately, he yanked her back and shoved her to the ground. "You're going to get on your knees right here and apologize for what you did! And don't get up until you're bleeding," he ordered coldly.
