Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 270

The call went through, and it rang three times before a familiar man's voice was heard on the other end. "Hello, who's this?"

As Giselle heard Donovan's voice, her initially calm heart was suddenly overcome with emotions. Her throat tightened, and for a brief moment, she wasn't able to make a sound. The speed of her car also began to slow down.

"Hello?" The voice rang once more.

"It's me," Giselle choked back a sob as she struggled to speak, her breath labored. "I… Come, save me."

"Where are you right now?" Donovan didn't even need to ask her identity. The moment he heard her voice, he already knew. He immediately bombarded her with a flurry of questions in an agitated urgency, "Where are you? Are you okay? Tell me, hurry!"

Giselle told him her rough location. "I'm at Cambiria right now. I'll arrange for a helicopter to pick you up right away, wherever you are. I'll be there right away! Wait for me where you are!" His replies were all over the place as blood rushed to his head from overexcitement, completely forgetting that she wasn't safe where she was.

"No need." Giselle calmed down quickly. "I'm surrounded by mountains now, so there's no place for your helicopter to land, and I don't have the time to wait for you to fly your plane to me."

She continued to instruct him calmly, "If it all goes well, I'll arrive at Little Molinar at midnight tonight. You can make arrangements with the border patrol at the Gulinore Border Crossing and wait for me there."

She added, "If there's been an accident and I didn't arrive on time, I should be missing within a 30-mile radius of that location. You can just inform the police so they can come and look for me."

After giving Donovan this crucial information, she hung up without waiting for him to reply and turned on the GPS navigation.

Even so, the darkness and loneliness she was experiencing at that moment were much better than the living hell she was previously forced into. She wasn't afraid at all, she was simply heading straight to her destination.

As long as she reached the border, she would even resort to crawling back home if she had to.

As it turned out, the journey after that had been pretty smooth. The gas in Giselle's car was enough for her to travel the whole 120 miles, and even if Lola's phone didn't have much battery left, it didn't stop her from figuring out her directions. There were no stops, no blocks, and no one coming for her in that dark of night.

The heavens had finally granted her a clear path ahead.

After slightly more than two hours of driving, she could finally see the dazzling, brilliant lights from that little town near the border.
