Fuming, Gideon couldn't let the matter go. He pointed a finger at Donovan and yelled, "I've wanted to get this off my chest for so long! You're a fucking coward, and you're always pulling dirty stunts behind my back!"
He continued, "Let's take this downstairs! I bet you'll be too old to even last a few minutes if I go all out—"
Despite Gideon's disrespect and insults about his age, Donovan remained calm.
Instead, he shot him a condescending look and said coldly, "I talked to your uncle about that kid of yours. He wants you to marry the kid's mother and make the kid a part of the family. I trust that you know what will happen if you go against his wishes."
When Donovan used Ethan to pressure him, Gideon got even angrier.
"You're such a fucking bastard, Donovan! All you do is go behind my back like a wimp!" Gideon yelled. "If I knew this was going to happen, I would've let you die in that cold storage room—"
"That's enough!" Giselle screamed.
Unable to stand their aggressiveness, she pushed Gideon out of the door and said, "I think you should leave. Let's go. I'll head out with you."
She ignored Donovan and left the apartment after grabbing her phone and her car keys. Then, she followed Gideon into the elevator and quickly pressed the "close door" button.
Even after getting in the elevator, Gideon was still feeling aggrieved.
"Why didn't you kick him out?" he demanded.
Giselle was mentally exhausted.
"I didn't want to speak to him. He's even more unreasonable than you are," she said. "Let's go. I'm planning to work at my clinic. You should return home."
He flashed her a bitter smile. "You're the most important person in my life. If I lose you, I'll have nothing left."
In the end, he got into his own car and left her neighborhood.
Giselle didn't want to return home and deal with Donovan. Hence, she headed to her own car and drove to her clinic to work.
Usually, she only dropped by the clinic to check in on how it was doing. She'd help with some complex cases every now and then, but she rarely tended to any insignificant tasks.
Since she had nothing better to do today, she decided to help the vets with their patients.
Possibly because of what happened earlier, Giselle found it difficult to focus while she tended to the pets at the clinic. While checking on a Rottweiler, she didn't pay attention to how she was handling the dog.
