Giselle had wanted to lose her temper, but she forced herself to endure it.
She wrapped her arms around him again and pleaded, "Can you stop being so ridiculous? I'm a married woman. What could I possibly do with him? I just dropped the dog off at his house and left."
Donovan shoved her with such force that she crashed to the floor.
He immediately pulled out his phone, tapped open a picture on WhatsApp, and threw it in front of her. "How do you plan on explaining this?" he demanded.
Giselle sat frozen on the floor before picking up his phone. Her heart jolted when she saw the photo. It showed her in Gideon's arms in the living room just a couple of hours ago.
A chill swept through her, leaving her at a loss. When she handed the phone back, she noticed the photo had been sent by one of Donovan's WhatsApp contacts. The profile picture was of a child, and the name displayed was "Cecilia".
Only then did she realize it was Cecilia who had sent it to him.
While Giselle had been inside, Cecilia must have been standing outside the villa, waiting for the right angle to snap the photo. She had then sent it straight to Donovan.
Realizing this, Giselle felt both furious and helpless.
Faced with the photo, Giselle knew there was no way to deny it. She forced herself to stay calm and explained softly, "It isn't what it looks like. I went to his house this afternoon to return the dog and happened to run into him in the living room.
"He was drunk, surrounded by women, and out of his mind. He grabbed me and said some nonsense. I didn't entertain him. I pushed him away and left right after."
Even though she was telling the truth, Giselle herself felt uncertain as the words left her lips.
Donovan's eyes flashed with an icy fury that only grew sharper with every word she spoke. He stared at her relentlessly, as if his gaze alone could drill a hole straight through her.
