Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 377

At around 5:00 pm, Donovan said to Giselle, "Get ready. Tonight, you're coming with me to Kane Manor for dinner."

"What?" Giselle immediately refused. "This is your family's dinner. Why should I go? To ruin the atmosphere of your reunion? No, thanks. You can go by yourself."

He gave her a sidelong glance. "Isn't my family your family too?"

"That kind of talk is only good for fooling yourself. I'm not going to get so bold as to show up at your house and call myself part of the Kane family," she said with a soft laugh.

She was well aware of how much Dorothea and the others disliked her. She was not stupid. Normally, the fact that they did not actively cause trouble for her was already a blessing. Why would she walk right into their home only to get insulted?

Donovan glanced at her sharply. "Since we're married, you'll attend events with me openly from now on. Stop making it look like we are sneaking around having an affair," he insisted.

"I don't have the skills to charm your family. I'd rather stay here in our own home and avoid them completely," she replied firmly.

"I'm not asking you to charm anyone. You don't need to please anyone," he stated with authority.

He was a man who commanded the world. How could he allow his wife to stoop low and try to please others? That would be an insult to him.

To Donovan, bringing her to Kane Manor was only meant to show that she and he were inseparable, and to make her identity clear. It was not to reconcile her with his family.

Giselle fell silent for a moment, then thought it through. "Fine," she said after a pause.

If she wanted to secure her place within the Kane family, hiding away and staying at odds with them was not a solution. It would be better to go openly as the family's daughter-in-law, attend with dignity, and let them get used to her presence. She would have to face it head-on.
