"We're going to the Kane Manor for dinner?" Giselle wrinkled her nose the moment she heard it.
"Forget it," she said. "You can go on your own. I'd rather eat at our villa. If I show up, it'll only ruin Dorothea's appetite."
Hearing that, Donovan shot her a sharp look. He was clearly annoyed. "You're already part of the Kanes. You have the right to be anywhere I am. If I want you to go, then you have to go!"
Faced with his forcefulness, Giselle couldn't bring herself to argue further.
He was right, after all. On paper, they were legally husband and wife now.
It didn't matter if the Kanes liked it or not. She was, in name, Mrs. Kane.
There was no need for Giselle to shrink back or feel out of place. Whatever happened, Donovan would always stand with her.
…
After Ethan had finished donating blood and rested, it was already 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm.
With the news that Harry had stabilized and was out of danger, he saw little reason to stay. Physically drained from giving blood, he summoned his driver and headed home.
Meanwhile, Donovan and Giselle drove back to the Kane Manor together.
Dorothea was the only one home. Grace had a social engagement that evening and wouldn't be back anytime soon, while Zachary was rarely around to begin with.
Seeing both her sons return for dinner, Dorothea brightened at once. She was even kinder to Giselle and ordered the housekeepers to hurry with the dishes.
