Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 425

"So what exactly is this woman's deal? You said she's been toying with Zach's feelings. What is she after?" Sophia asked.

Giselle laid it out simply. "She was first engaged to Zach's uncle, Donovan. But during the engagement banquet, a scandalous video of her overseas escapades surfaced. The Kane family canceled the marriage on the spot."

Sophia blinked, stunned for a moment. "Wait. I remember that. I was with Zach then, and he mentioned his uncle's disastrous engagement. I had no idea the woman was her!"

Giselle's lips curved into a knowing smile. "That's right. After the broken engagement, she decided to get revenge by targeting Zach. She even drugged him and forced herself on him."

"That's disgusting!" Sophia shot upright in outrage. "Are you saying this vile woman actually did that to him? She drugged him?"

"What else did you expect?" Giselle gave a cold laugh. "She's no stranger to group scenes abroad. Her morals are nonexistent. If it gets her what she wants, she'll do anything.

"You know I've always been nothing more than a friend to Zach. I know his character. But watching him fall into the hands of someone like her—I couldn't bear it. And since you've always been the one who truly cared for him, I thought you deserved to know."

The more Sophia listened, the harder it was to stay composed. She clenched her teeth in frustration.

"No wonder that day when I texted Zach, his reply was so cold. It was so unlike him. Turns out it was that bitch using his phone to answer me."

"Exactly," Giselle said softly. Then she added, "Ms. Mitchell, may I ask you something blunt?"

"What is it?"

"Have you and Zach officially broken up?"

Sophia went quiet for a long moment, her expression shadowed.

"He did end things with me. But we never truly cut contact. And honestly, after all these years, I can't love anyone else. Of all the girlfriends he's ever had, I loved him the most. He knows that too, deep down."
