Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 463

"What are you still doing here? And how are you still smiling? Why aren't you on a plane to Astrakhan yet? Have you bought your ticket?" Dorothea burst out angrily.

Giselle blinked in confusion but answered honestly, "Don and I argued. We haven't spoken in days. Did something happen?"

"How can you call yourself his wife? Didn't the Astrakhan police notify you?" Ethan snapped.

The word "police" made Giselle's stomach drop. "What happened to Don? I've tried contacting him, but he never replied. I thought he was just ignoring me, so I was planning to fly over to find him myself."

Ethan's expression darkened further. He looked as though he wanted to speak but hesitated, glancing toward Dorothea.

Dorothea cut in, her voice heavy. "We just got word. Don's been accused of a rape case in Astrakhan. He's already in custody. As his wife, you must go immediately. It's obvious he's been framed—you need to get him out."

The words "rape case" struck Giselle like a thunderclap. Her mind went blank.

"Honestly, I don't think she's fit to handle this," Ethan said firmly. "I should go instead."

To him, Giselle was too young, too inexperienced, with no real influence to manage an international case this severe. But Dorothea stood her ground. "Whether she's ready or not, it's her duty. She's his wife. She goes. Now stop wasting time and get moving!"

At that moment, Grace entered. She overheard his call and immediately cut in.

"Ethan, why panic? If Don weren't married, maybe you'd have to step in. But he has a wife now. This is Giselle's responsibility. She doesn't get to enjoy the privileges of being a Kane without facing the cost. Let her prove herself."

She turned to Dorothea. "Dorothea, stop worrying. You're too old to fly around. Don probably acted foolishly or was framed. Either way, it's Giselle's mess to handle."

Then Grace walked right up to Giselle with a mocking smile. "You married into the Kane family for money, didn't you? Well, Don's in trouble now, and divorce isn't on the table. If you want to keep living the good life, you'd better step up."
