Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 558

"She's in…" Ethan hesitated. Now that he had already revealed the truth about Giselle being alive, there was no point in hiding where she was.

"She's in a country house in Cambria. There's a private medical team caring for her. Her health has been improving."

The words struck Donovan like lightning. He froze, unable to believe what he'd just heard. His entire body trembled, voice breaking as he asked, "It's true? She's really alive?"

Dorothea leaned in, her face pale with shock. "Ethan, are you sure? You're not lying, are you? Don has already done something extreme tonight. If you're saying this just to calm him down, you'll destroy him completely once he learns it's false!"

"Tell us the truth, Ethan!" Grace snapped, her voice rising in disbelief. "Do you even realize what you're saying? Back then, Giselle was pronounced beyond recovery. Tony said she wouldn't survive, that her brain was dead! She was sent to the crematorium. We even received her cremation box! H-How could she still be alive?"

She fired her questions like bullets. "What's going on? It's been a whole year! We all believed she was dead! And now you suddenly say she's alive? How did you even pull this off? How could you smuggle someone supposedly dying out of a hospital?"

Dorothea felt dizzy, unable to comprehend the world she was living in.

Ethan's thoughts were a tangled mess as he struggled to explain. "Everything was done with Tony's consent. He's her father. Without his approval, I couldn't have made that decision."

Grace's voice turned sharp. "Are you insane? What did Giselle have to do with you that made you interfere like this? Do you have any idea how serious this is? Even if you meant well, how could you keep this from Don?"

"I kept thinking that if she ended up bedridden for life, what would happen to you? Should you abandon your future and your marriage simply to care for a woman who can no longer respond?

"If you spent the rest of your years bound to someone mentally broken, what would happen to you? To your health, your mind, and your ability to lead Kane Group as its heir? You have everything ahead of you, should it all be destroyed because of one woman?

"So I made the decision on my own. I didn't want Giselle to become a burden to the Kane family. I wanted you to have peace so we could all return to normal. We didn't need to exhaust ourselves over someone who wasn't even family by blood."

He fell silent.
