Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 569

Donovan had come here because this was the island where they had first met.

Guided by the memory of that dream, an unshakable intuition told him Giselle was somewhere on this island. Following that feeling, he made his way here stubbornly, asking countless people along the way.

Perhaps it was some kind of bond between them, but he hadn't needed much effort to find her. He had simply arrived and seen that familiar figure once more.

After finishing his cigarette, he quietly went back into the cabin and found that she had already fallen asleep. Her illness always left her drained afterward, and she would often slip easily into deep sleep. That was probably for the best.

He walked quietly around the room and soon noticed several boxes of medicine sitting on a small, worn-out table beside the bed. Picking one up, he examined it casually and saw that they were all common medications for epilepsy. One of them was even produced by his own company.

The memory of her collapsing on the beach resurfaced, and a heavy weight pressed against his chest. Yet after enduring the agony of believing she was gone forever, finding her alive again—able to stand, to speak, to still remember him—felt like a miracle. Compared to that, her lingering illness meant nothing to him.

He sat down at her bedside, staring at her with a kind of greedy, unrestrained longing.

Ever since he found her, everything had happened in a blur—her rejection, her sudden collapse, the rush to help her. He hadn't had a single moment to truly take in her face until now.
