Giselle's first stop was the pet shop she used to run. During her absence, a few senior managers had kept the place running and sent regular reports to Donovan, so the shop had been operating as usual.

News of her being alive had already spread throughout the circle last week, so the staff weren't exactly shocked when they saw her, but many of them teared up, as they were genuinely happy she was back.

She spent some time walking around the store, chatting with the manager about the past year's revenue and any major issues that had come up. Then she decided to seek out Vivienne. It had been a whole year since she last spoke to her best friend, and she had no idea how Vivienne was doing now.

Giselle didn't call Vivienne in advance. She simply drove to the dental hospital where Vivienne worked. Coincidentally, the moment she walked into the lobby, Vivienne emerged from her office, as if she were about to leave.

As soon as she spotted Giselle, she stopped dead in her tracks and stared at her in disbelief. Giselle, too, felt as if it had been a lifetime since they last saw each other.

"Vivi!" she beamed. "Do you still recognize me?"

"Selle!" Vivienne was so pleasantly surprised that she was at a loss for words. Her expression was completely frozen.

Vivienne had learned two days ago that Giselle was alive, but since she didn't have her new number, she hadn't been able to reach her. Now that she was standing right in front of her, Vivienne instinctively thought this was Giselle's spirit.

For a moment, she couldn't believe her eyes. How was this happening in broad daylight?

"Let me make sure you're real!" she blurted out before cupping Giselle's face with both hands. After touching her all over, Vivienne confirmed she was very much alive, yet she was still exhilarated. "Selle… You've lost so much weight!"

"Calm down." Giselle tried to keep her emotions in check. "Let's take a seat and talk."

After settling down on the couch in the break room, Vivienne couldn't help but look Giselle up and down. Then, her eyes misted over, and she choked out, "You're literally built different, Selle! It's been a whole year. Everyone said you were dead and cremated.
