"Yeah. You didn't know?" Vivienne sneered. "Last year, not long after everyone thought you were dead, Anne went missing overseas. No one's heard from her since."

"Anne is missing?" It was the first time Giselle heard about it, and she was genuinely surprised. "What happened?"

"How could I know? Rumor has it she fled to Suntara to avoid being held legally responsible by the Kanes. Then, she fell off the grid.

"For a whole year, Renee used all the connections she had, searched all over Soutara, and even went all the way to the west to file reports, but nothing ever turned up. It was like Anne just disappeared off the face of the earth."

Giselle was a little shaken. She had assumed that while she was recuperating overseas, Anne was living her best life, raising hell and discussing marriage with Zachary. She never imagined Anne would just vanish.

"She's been missing for so long; she's probably dead," Vivienne scoffed. "Honestly, she was way too full of herself. She probably crossed someone from the underworld and got herself assassinated. Nowadays, tons of people get lured to Soutara and end up dead.

"Those countries are a legal black hole. Who will ever find her if she gets murdered and dumped in some random corner, or worse, dissolved with chemicals?"

Giselle had fantasized about killing Anne with her own hands more times than she could count, but when she learned that Anne had vanished without a trace, she still felt a chill run down her spine.
