"Are you insane?" Donovan muttered under his breath.

"I'm not joking with you," Giselle said.

She gently cupped his face. "You're so handsome. With your amazing genes, it'd be a waste if you never had a child. Unfortunately, mine aren't healthy anymore. So, how about we do IVF? We could use a healthy donor's egg and find a perfectly healthy woman to be the surrogate."

"Shut up!" Donovan instantly opened his eyes and glared dangerously at her. His first instinct was to lash out at her.

But considering she couldn't handle emotional stress, he suppressed his anger.

He touched her forehead. "You're not running a fever, so why are you talking nonsense? Do you feel unwell anywhere else? I'll take you to the hospital right now."

"I'm not talking nonsense," Giselle retorted.

Since she had already said this much, she decided to spill it all. "Donovan, I'm being serious. This isn't emotional. I've lost all expectations about giving birth, but you can't lose your chance to become a father because of me. As long as the child is related to you by blood, I'll treat them as my own. So, please consider what I said."

Donovan closed his eyes again. He knew if he kept looking at her, he'd explode.

"I only want to have a child with you." He spoke through tight restraint, trying his best to stay calm. "There's nothing wrong with your health. Just relax and let things happen naturally. We'll have our child someday. Let's sleep."

After that, he stopped responding to her, no matter what she said. He pretended to be asleep until he eventually drifted off for real and slept straight through until morning.

The next day, he worked from home the entire morning.

Later, Leonard called to remind him about an important dinner appointment with the government officials that evening.
