**When Time Tried to Heal Me But I Refused to Listen**
*by Kael Niro Senn*
Adriana stood at the entrance of the Silverwave Hotel, her heart heavy as she watched Belinda walk away. A sharp pang of longing pierced her chest, leaving her breathless.
What if Belinda discovered that her mother was still alive? The thought sent a rush of hope through her veins. The joy on Belinda’s face would be indescribable, a brilliant light breaking through the shadows of their past.
Just then, Yolanda emerged from her room, her expression a mix of curiosity and caution.
Before she could take another step, a figure appeared in her path. It was Danielle, her presence both commanding and unexpected.
“Ms. Spencer,” Danielle began, her voice smooth as silk, “I’m Danielle, the heiress of the Barton Group.” With that, she extended a business card towards Yolanda, a gesture that felt both formal and loaded with unspoken implications.
Yolanda blinked, clearly taken aback. “What? Seriously?” Her mind raced, trying to comprehend the significance of this encounter. What could someone from the illustrious Barton family want with her? A scam? A joke?
“I know your father owns Bright Reach, the food company in Harborton,” Danielle continued, her tone unwavering. “Your family collaborates with the Lincolns’ resorts and our restaurant chains.”
“Ms. Barton?” Yolanda’s brow furrowed, confusion etched across her features. She was still struggling to grasp the purpose behind this unexpected meeting.
“I want us to be friends,” Danielle said, her eyes gleaming with ambition. “Help me resolve a little issue, and your family will reap the benefits for years to come.” The implication hung in the air like a thick fog, and Yolanda sensed that there was more beneath the surface.
“Just say it,” Yolanda replied, her voice steady. She was not one to engage in riddles or vague hints.
Danielle’s confidence was palpable, and Yolanda found herself intrigued.
“Curtis is engaged to my family, but Adriana is getting in the way. If you can lure her to this location,” she said, slipping a piece of paper with an address into Yolanda’s palm, “I’ll ensure your family’s partnership with us becomes even stronger.”
Yolanda, sharp as a tack, immediately realized Danielle’s intentions. She wanted to set Adriana up, and the thought sent a thrill of excitement through her.
With a cunning smile, she glanced around, ensuring their conversation remained private. “Ms. Barton, this isn’t the best place to discuss such matters. Let’s go to my room.”
Danielle, impressed by Yolanda’s quick thinking, followed her inside.
Once the door clicked shut, Yolanda discreetly activated her phone’s recorder, her demeanor calm and collected. She poured Danielle a glass of water, maintaining an air of nonchalance as if nothing significant was happening.
As a flight attendant, Yolanda had mastered the art of hospitality, her polite smile and attentive service working wonders to put Danielle at ease.
“Ms. Barton, could you elaborate on your plan? I can arrange for Adriana to meet you, but what exactly do you want to achieve? Is there any risk involved? Will I be implicated in this? What’s in it for me if this goes according to plan?” Her voice was smooth and professional, as if she were conducting a business transaction rather than engaging in something far more sinister.
She couldn’t help but marvel at Danielle’s naïveté, practically handing her evidence on a silver platter.
Danielle’s expression brightened, clearly pleased with Yolanda’s astuteness. “You’re clever. You know how to navigate this.”
