Marshall played along. “Why?”
Natalie smiled. “Because I know he’ll be a good man—gentle, kind, and considerate. And he’s going to be very wealthy in the future. So you should work hard too. We can both latch on to him and make a lot of money.”
Marshall was speechless.
Latch on to him?
We? Did the young master of the Spencer family need to latch on to anyone?
But Natalie was right. Matthew was young and brilliant. Latching on to him wasn’t a bad idea.
A curious smile played on his handsome face as he looked at her. He finally understood. Sebastian was blind. He couldn’t see how exceptional Natalie was and instead wanted to marry that vicious woman, Joanna.
“Natalie, then promise you’ll have dinner with me tomorrow night. My grandmother wants to meet you too. Even though you slapped me ten times and broke both my arms, my grandmother said I grew up overnight because of it.”
“She said she wants to thank you and invite you over.”
Natalie was dumbfounded. Who gets beaten up and then feels grateful to their attacker? Marshall’s words were unexpected. In her previous life, instigated by Joanna, that boy had never shown her any mercy.
“Alright. The day after tomorrow. I’ll visit your grandmother then and check if there’s any residual poison in her system.”
“Her bodyguard is awake and in my car. You can take him with you. His injuries aren’t severe, but he did suffer a fractured leg bone. He’ll need to rest for three months before he can work again. He was the one who carried me to the hospital that day. I was grateful, so I treated him.”
Marshall now understood the full story of that day. He smiled, his deep eyes fixed on her. “Alright. Natalie, thank you.” With that, he took the bodyguard and left.
Queena came over. “Natalie, are you just going to let Sebastian and Joanna go? They’re in this together.”
