The next moment, Dominic's cold, commanding voice cut through the quiet.
"Leave."
It was rare to hear Dominic sound so openly furious.
Cynthia froze for a split second, but caught on quickly and stood up from the couch without protest. After all, Dominic needed to speak privately with his employee, and it wasn't her place to listen in.
She made her way toward the door, glancing up at the employee who'd just been reprimanded. The woman's eyes were filled with silent resentment.
Cynthia pressed her lips together—a silent apology, but there was nothing she could do.
As she passed Dominic, she felt a hand catch her arm. She startled, but the employee's eyes cleared in sudden understanding. The woman hurried out, pausing only to shoot Cynthia a grateful look before pulling the door closed behind her.
Now, in the spacious and sunlit office, only Dominic and Cynthia remained.
Dominic glanced at her, his eyes cool and unreadable, before striding back to his desk.
Cynthia composed herself quickly and followed. As soon as Dominic settled into his chair, she handed over the folder she'd stayed up all night preparing.
"Mr. Holloway, if you could spare a few minutes, would you review the plan I put together before making your decision?"
Dominic glanced at the document she offered him with both hands, his expression unchanged.
"If it's the same topic we discussed yesterday, why waste more time on it today?"
He picked up a different file from his desk, making it clear he had no interest in her proposal.
Her hand stiffened slightly, but Cynthia didn't shrink back. Instead, she withdrew the file and spoke steadily, maintaining her composure.
