The days began to pass quickly. The entire tribe was buzzing with frantic energy.

After multiple large hunts, the tribe’s food stores were massive. They had almost five hundred prey now. All the meat was smoked and dried so they could eat it later, safe from the coming floods.

All the beast hides had been carefully tanned. These hides would be exchanged for rice with the Fat Bull Tribe.

Today was the important day. They were going to the Fat Bull tribe for the exchange.

"That is wonderful, Bai Ling," Su Qinglan replied, smiling. "Soon you will have your little fish in your arms."

Bai Ling reached out and gently patted Su Qinglan’s protruding belly. "And soon you will too, Qinglan-jie. Your belly is getting so big! How many cubs do you think you carry?"

Su Qinglan laughed. "I don’t know. I am so chubby already, it’s hard to tell!"

Just then, one of the younger females, Xiu Li, came bounding over. Xiu Li was known for being overly excited. She was carrying a huge, woven basket of berries.

"Qinglan-Jie! Look how many berries I found! They are very sweet!" Xiu Li exclaimed, her arms full.
