Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Don’t Snarl, You’ll Look Uglier

Su Qinglan immediately jumped down from Hu Yan’s back. She knew she would only get in the way if she stayed there. Her feet hit the ground lightly, and before Hu Yan could even turn, she had already taken two steps back.

Hu Yan’s sharp gaze snapped toward her. "Don’t move. Stay behind me," he said in that deep, commanding tone of his.

Su Qinglan’s lips twitched. Stay behind? Sure.

Her eyes gleamed with curiosity as she looked at the horde of evil ferocious beasts surrounding them. There were too many. Big ones, small ones, all covered in dark fur and glowing red eyes. The air was thick with the scent of blood and danger.

Hu Yan didn’t waste a second. The moment the first beast lunged, he moved like lightning. His claws tore through the creature’s chest, and blood splattered the ground. Another came from the side, but Hu Yan turned swiftly, his tail smashing it away like it weighed nothing.

Su Qinglan didn’t interfere. She just stood there and watched, her eyes darting from one beast to another. She was counting silently in her head.

"One... two... three... seven... ten..." she muttered, frowning slightly. "Wait, didn’t I already count that one? Or is that another one?"

Every time she looked up, there seemed to be more of them. Something was definitely wrong. No matter how many Hu Yan killed, more kept coming out of the forest.

Hu Yan was fighting fiercely, his golden fur flashing between the trees, claws glinting in the dim light. But even with his strength, he couldn’t cover every side at once. He tried to shield her with his large body, growling at every beast that dared to get close. Still, some managed to slip through.

Then, without warning, a leopard-like beast shot toward Su Qinglan from the side. Its eyes glowed red, and its jaw opened so wide it looked like it could swallow her whole.

Hu Yan roared, "Lan Lan!" but he couldn’t reach her in time.

Too bad for the leopard...it had chosen the wrong woman to mess with.

Su Qinglan didn’t even flinch. She looked at the beast charging at her, her lips curving slightly. Really? You want to eat me?

She laughed softly. "You might choke, you know."

At that very moment, something moved at her feet. A thick green vine shot out from the ground, wrapping tightly around the leopard’s wide jaw. The beast’s eyes widened in shock as it struggled, trying to bite or claw its way free.

Su Qinglan tilted her head, amusement flashing in her eyes. "Don’t snarl like that," she said cheerfully. "It makes your ugly face even uglier."

With a flick of her wrist, the vine tightened, then swung sharply. The leopard let out a muffled growl as its entire body lifted off the ground...before being tossed straight into another beast that had been lunging toward her.

The two collided with a loud thud and rolled into a pile of leaves.

Su Qinglan brushed off her hands and sighed lightly. "Honestly," she said, glancing at the fallen beasts, "if you all wanted to die together, you could’ve just said so. I’d have prepared a prettier spot for your funeral."

When Hu Yan looked back, his heart almost stopped.

Right behind him, his little female was standing face-to-face with a massive evil ferocious beast, whose jaws were wide open, sharp fangs glinting, and saliva dripping like a waterfall. It was so close that if she even blinked, she would be swallowed whole.

For a split second, Hu Yan’s mind went blank. His blood ran cold, and he felt his life flash right before his eyes.

"Lan Lan!" he roared, his voice echoing through the forest as he dashed toward her with all his strength.

But before he could even reach her...something unbelievable happened.
