Su Qinglan followed Xuyu’s directions, pushing past a curtain of thick, winding roots until she found the mouth of the small cave.
It was dark, damp, and smelled strongly of earth and moss, but it was hidden and silent, and she knew this is what she wanted now.
She didn’t even make it three steps inside before her wobbly legs finally gave out. She collapsed onto a bed of stone, too exhausted to even pull her aching body into a more comfortable position.
The last thing she remembered before succumbing to the black abyss of sleep was Xuyu’s tiny, worried voice instructing her to rest and the satisfying coolness of the stone against her cheek.

Su Qinglan was having a dream.
It was a glorious, breathtaking dream. She wasn’t in a dark, cold cave; she was surrounded by a cool, perfect embrace.
Her fever-racked body, which moments ago felt like it was simmering from the inside, suddenly found relief.
The agonizing ache in her joints and the pounding in her skull began to recede, replaced by a deep, blissful chill.
In her delirium, she imagined she had stumbled across a rare, divine artifact or perhaps, even better, a godlike, handsome creature carved from marble and moonlight.
His skin was impossibly smooth, cool, and firm, providing the exact counter-pressure her inflamed body craved.
"Ahm... so cold... so good..." she moaned, a sound of pure comfort escaping her lips.
With a deep sigh, she burrowed against the source of the coolness, shamelessly rubbing her entire body on it...cheeks, shoulders, and chest all seeking contact.
She was dreaming of kissing a sculpted jawline and running her hands over sinuous, rock-hard muscle, and she was doing it with great enthusiasm.
The cold thing, the dream-man, seemed to respond. It gently and deliberately wrapped itself around her, a slow, massive weight settling around her torso like a comforting blanket.
Su Qinglan’s fever was raging, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.
"He is so handsome," she slurred, even though the face of her handsome protector was not visible in her dream. She didn’t care.
The cool body felt like a marble sculpture carved by the gods, and she was already drooling at the sensation. I might bleed from the nose, but who cares? I’m already half-dead anyway.
She was pretty sure this was a lucid dream, given the invisible face and the impossible perfection of the man’s physique. If it’s a dream, I’m going all out. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
She tightened her hold, shamelessly hooking herself into his massive, muscular "arms," rubbing her cheeks against the cool surface.
She did things she would never dare to do in real life, enjoying the anonymity of her subconscious.
Her lips searched and found a warm, soft spot that tasted faintly sweet. She pecked it, then took a delicious bite and began to suck.
Umm, tasty and sweet... she thought, convinced she was kissing her dream lover passionately.
Her hand roamed higher, finding a defined ridge on his neck. Oh my god. Is that a sexy Adam’s apple? she thought, It was bobbing slightly. She immediately pressed her lips to it, sucking lightly and making contented little sounds.
Driven by the need for more and better cooling, Su Qinglan pushed herself upward, right in her dream-lover’s center.
