Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 427

“‘We need the Lennox family? What’s that supposed to mean?’ Norene caught the implication and froze, stunned for several seconds.

Neely lifted a hand, signaling for the bodyguards to take her away. Norene blurted, ‘My parents are still waiting for me—’

Before she could finish, a sharp pain shot through the back of her neck. Everything went black.

Her falling body was caught just in time by a bodyguard.

Zoe walked in. ‘If the Lennox family found out what you’re really after, I doubt they’d ever agree to this engagement.’

Neely let out a low chuckle and turned to her. ‘What, are you thinking of turning me in?’

‘And what good would that do for me?’ Zoe moved to Norene’s side. ‘You’ve knocked her out, but do you really think you can get her out of the hotel without my help? Looks like you still need me after all.’

Neely only smiled, saying nothing.

Once Zoe had seen to Norene, Neely returned to the dining room. He found Norene’s mother just about to call her daughter. Acting casual, he said, ‘Noreen just told me she’s heading out.’

Mr. Lennox looked surprised. ‘She…she’s leaving already?’

‘She’s busy. We parents should be understanding, right?’ Neely took his seat, dabbing his hands with the napkin. ‘As for the engagement, I just asked Noreen for her thoughts. She said she’s happy to let us pick a date. Maybe it’s time for us to find a good day for the wedding?’

Finnick Vinterberg paused mid-sip, glancing quietly at his father.

The Lennoxes exchanged glances. Just days ago, their daughter wanted nothing to do with this marriage. Now she’d suddenly changed her mind?

‘Is there anything else you’re worried about?’ Neely asked, smiling.

Mr. Lennox gathered himself. Honestly, he couldn’t see any reason to object—after all, the arrangement was set. Sooner or later, it was all the same. ‘Since Noreen agrees, why don’t we let the kids get married next month?’

‘Finnick, what do you think?’ Neely turned to his silent son.

Finnick set down his glass. ‘No objections from me.’
