Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 446

Tricia's hand tightened on the receiver, her face turning to ice. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

"You can deny it, but you know it's true," Charlotte said calmly. "I wouldn't have known myself, if not for the red mole on your wrist."

"Stop making things up! I don't believe you!" Tricia exploded. "And so what if they were my biological parents? They gave birth to me, but did they raise me? I have no feelings for them. Even if they're dead, I won't remember them!" To Tricia, she was the one who had been abandoned. Why should she feel any remorse?

Charlotte glanced at her watch. One minute left.

"Your mother, Rachel, didn't abandon you. You were taken and sold by Abigail. Rachel adopted me as a replacement for you. She remembered the mole on her daughter's wrist, and in the end, she died at her own daughter's hands."

Tricia froze, her mind flashing back to the day Rachel fell. As she held onto Rachel's arm, she remembered the look in the woman's eyes. Strangely, the hatred was gone. At the time, she hadn't cared what Rachel was trying to say. But now, she finally understood the words Rachel had mouthed.

Before Tricia could react, Charlotte hung up the phone and walked away.

As the guards led Tricia back down the dim corridor, a single ray of sunlight cut through a high window. She remained in the shadows. She had always looked down on her adoptive father as a pathetic creature living in the gutter. She never imagined she would end up becoming one herself.

As Charlotte left the detention center, her phone buzzed with a text. It was from Norene.

She was at a bridal shop.
