Crossing the Border (Rania) novel Chapter 247

**He Asked Me to Leave My Dreams, So I Decided to Make Him One of Them by Mira Lorian 247**

Maximus stood there, a whirlwind of emotions swirling within him, as he felt the gentle warmth return to Rania’s body. It was a faint sensation at first, almost imperceptible, but as he focused, he could see the subtle rise and fall of her chest. His heart raced as the realization washed over him—Rania was breathing again.

She was alive.

“Karin!” Maximus’s voice rang out, a desperate plea as he tightened his grip around Rania’s fragile form. “Come here!”

Karin, the healer, sprang to her feet, propelled by urgency. She hurried to the side of the king and queen, kneeling beside Rania with a sense of determination. She had witnessed the extraordinary moment too, the flicker of life that had ignited within Rania.

“Check her! She’s alive, isn’t she?” Maximus’s voice was strained, his jaw clenched tightly. He fought against the swell of hope that threatened to engulf him, yet the evidence was undeniable. His mate was breathing, her wounds appeared to be healing, and warmth radiated from her body once more.

But still, her eyes remained closed, a veil of unconsciousness hanging over her.

Without a moment to lose, Karin began her examination, her brow furrowing in concentration as she closed her eyes to focus. “She is… alive.” When she opened her eyes, confusion flickered across her features, mingling with disbelief.

The warriors and Alpha Letto exchanged glances, their expressions mirroring the shock that coursed through them. They had all been certain that the queen was lost to them, that her life had slipped away. How could they not have seen the signs? The king’s desolation had painted a grim picture, and from a distance, it was clear that Rania had endured catastrophic injuries.

Yet, Karin’s declaration shattered their assumptions.

“Why isn’t she waking up?” Maximus’s voice was rough, laced with a mix of desperation and concern as he turned his gaze back to Rania, willing her to open her eyes. “Please, tell me she’s going to be okay.”

“She is alive, but her condition is fragile,” Karin replied, uncertainty creeping into her tone. “I think… it might be due to that…” She hesitated, her mind racing as she considered the implications of what she was witnessing.

Karin grasped Rania’s hand, pouring her healing energy into her, feeling the pulse of life beneath her fingertips. She was terrified that one misstep could lead to disaster.

To her relief, Rania’s body responded positively to the healing energy, the warmth of life steadily returning.

As rain began to fall, a gentle patter that soon turned into a downpour, Maximus instinctively drew Rania closer to him, shielding her from the elements.

“We need to get back to the pack house,” he said, urgency threading through his voice. “I can prepare a concoction for her—this isn’t a safe environment for her right now. She deserves warmth and comfort.”

Without a second thought, Maximus scooped Rania into his arms, but just as he did, she stirred. Her eyes fluttered open, and a piercing scream escaped her lips, a sound filled with agony as she instinctively curled against him.

“It hurts…” she whimpered, tears streaming down her cheeks. “It’s so painful…” Her hands clutched at her chest, and Maximus felt the heat radiating from her, her body burning with an intensity that sent alarm bells ringing in his mind.

“What’s happening?! Karin!” he shouted, panic rising in his throat.
