Chapter 523
What Ariel needed to do now was wait for the subsequent announcements.
That afternoon, she received a WhatsApp message from Cecilia.
“I’m celebrating my birthday this Saturday. I’ve chartered a cruise ship. You should come and join me. Bring Jan along too. Mr. Hockney can come along as well if he’s free.”
Ariel tried to recall if she had any appointments on Saturday; she had none.
Ariel figured she should accept Cecilia’s invitation since they were pretty much like comrades now.
After giving it some thought, Ariel sent a response. “Sure. I’ll let the others know about it too.”
Chad happened to drop by Ariel’s office to pass her a revised technical proposal just then. Ariel told him about Cecilia’s invitation. “Are you coming with us?”
Chad replied without even looking up, “You ladies should go ahead and have some fun. I’ll sit this one out. Besides, I don’t know her that well.”
Ariel grinned. “You’ll get to know her better if you meet her more often. She’s invited you too.”
Chad put down the pen he was holding and knocked softly on the table. He smiled dryly. “That’s what we call being courteous. If she truly wanted me to be there, she would have invited me herself Anyway, it’ll suffice with just the two of you being there. You should be careful to avoid having any alcoholic drinks.”
Chad lightly waved his hand as he turned around and went back to his office.
Ariel gave a little shrug.
Later, she returned to Nexura Solutions‘ office to attend to matters related to the transfer of the company’s equity. Nancy had also been notified to come and sign the relevant documents.
Ariel had no intention of meeting Nancy. After she finished sorting the relevant documents in her office, Ariel decided to check on the progress at Nexura Solutions‘ factory.
Faye Technologies and Nexura Solutions had started working together on several projects. With Nexura Solutions in charge of manufacturing, the Faye Technologies team had nothing to worry about, as they were highly efficient in their work.
Unfortunately, Ariel ran into Nancy, who was on her way out of the building, while waiting for the elevator. The air grew tense the moment they locked gazes.
Ariel raised her brows slightly and entered the elevator without the slightest hint of hesitation.
She could imagine how Nancy probably saw her as the most wicked person on Earth at the moment. Nancy probably wanted nothing but to tear her to bits right away. Still, she needed to maintain a proud, dignified image.
The number displayed on the screen was dropping gradually.
Standing behind Ariel, Nancy suddenly spoke. “I have a reminder for you.”
Ariel lifted her gaze and looked at Nancy through the reflection of the elevator wall.
Nancy was looking at her as well. She had a stony expression “You should be wary of Cecilia Pryce. You’ve spent so much effort trying to bring me down. I know very well what you want.
“However, Cecilia is different from us. She’s the type of woman who has everything she needs and excels at pretty much everything she does. Are you not worried that Jayson might be attracted to her?”
For a moment, Ariel thought she had probably heard it wrong. Her eyes reflected her confusion.
Nancy didn’t allow Ariel the time to respond. Her tone was frigid he still sounded as haughty and conceited as ever. (

“You can never compare to her in terms of your background and sness. If you insist on befriending her, there’s no telling when she’ll stab you in the back. You should think about it yourself”
Nancy had given it a lot of thought. Ariel had worked so hard to bring her down, most likely because she was trying to win Jayson back. She probably couldn’t give up on him just yet. Hence, Cecilia decided to help Ariel by giving Nancy a hard time.
Nancy wondered if she could cause a rift between the two by using Jayson, whom Ariel cared about the most, to sow some doubts
