Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 769

Jayson had been deeply tormented back then. Ariel had misunderstood him in so many ways, but the baby was the one thing he could never bring himself to give up on.

After that, he often flew to Nacsall. Visiting and checking on the baby every month brought him peace of mind, and soon, it became something he eagerly looked forward to.

Jayson was usually cold and indifferent to others. Yet, he seemed to have given all of his love and affection to Ariel and their baby.

Ariel gazed at him for a long moment before letting out a soft chuckle, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Jayson, it seems like you've saved my life once again."

For a time, she thought she would have to live with the weight of that regret for the rest of her life. But once again, Jayson had changed everything. He had always been careful, far-sighted—and now, he had given her a precious gift that could change the course of her life forever.

Ariel couldn't deny all that Jayson had done for her. If he hadn't decided to raise their child alone, losing the baby might have become the greatest regret of her life.

It also explained the little girl's clothes she'd seen in the nursery, and the way the room had been decorated. They were all quiet hints of their baby's existence—and her gender.

"Are you happy now?" Jayson gently wiped away her tears. "Don't you think I'm pretty reliable sometimes? I've done something that really makes you happy, haven't I?"

Ariel could hardly describe what she was feeling. Her heart swelled with so much joy it almost hurt. Waves of happiness and relief surged through her, washing away the sadness that had lingered for so long.

"In that case, you should focus on resting and getting better so that we can visit our baby sooner."

Ariel could hardly wait. Yet, she suppressed her desires as she stared at Jayson, who hadn't fully recovered.

With her heart lightened and her mind renewed, everything suddenly felt more hopeful. This was a new beginning for her.

Jayson raised an eyebrow. "Do you still think I'm asking too much when I want you to stay here and keep me company?"

For a moment, Ariel was speechless. "I don't recall saying that."

Jayson smirked. "So, you're staying here willingly, then?"

Ariel fell silent. He always knew how to tease her.
