Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 175

Conrad’s word was absolute at Hawthorne Hall. No one ever questioned his decisions, even though right now, everyone was more worried about Conrad himself than anything else.

Libby turned to Jason, urgency clear in her voice. “Let’s go check on Miss Alice first. The sooner we help her, the sooner we can get back to Mr. Sullivan.”

Once they hurried off, Conrad could barely keep himself upright. He staggered to the ice bath and sank in, desperate for relief. His skin, burning hot and flushed red, practically sizzled as it touched the water, thin wisps of steam curling up. Sweat trickled down his temple, huge droplets rolling off as he clenched his jaw and tried to hold on. He didn’t know how long he stayed there, but finally he let out a shaky breath. When he opened his eyes, the red haze had faded a little and his mind felt clearer.

Upstairs, Wiona sat by her window, sketchbook on her lap and soft music playing. She hadn’t gone to bed yet, using the quiet time for a little prenatal education. The sound of the helicopter made her pause. She guessed Conrad had come back, but she didn’t think much of it. It was the shrill alarm that got her attention. Her entire expression changed. She clicked off her speaker and rushed out, still in her white nightgown, her heart already racing at the thought that something might have happened to Alice.

But Alice wasn’t in her room. The second floor was empty, and even the first floor felt abandoned, not a single servant in sight. Wiona circled the foyer, looking for anyone to ask, but found no one. She heard footsteps from upstairs and, remembering how Alice had climbed onto the roof before, she hurried to the nearest elevator and went all the way up.

The rooftop was empty and cold, wind whipping around her as she shivered, her nose stinging from the chill. She glanced down at the garden and spotted a cluster of servants running around. Just as she was about to head back, she noticed the elevator had gone down to the first floor. With no other choice, she started down the stairs.

She had only just rounded the corner on the third floor when, out of the shadows, a burning hot hand grabbed her and yanked her into a solid, powerful embrace.

She didn’t even have time to scream. A hand covered her mouth, and the other arm held her tight, strong as steel. Wiona’s eyes went wide in shock. She tried to fight, to twist away, but she couldn’t move at all. Whoever it was, their grip was unbreakable.

Heart pounding, she looked up, searching for her attacker’s face. In the darkness, she met a pair of eyes—cold as winter, but burning with a wild, red heat.
