Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 240

The people behind her looked stunned for a split second, but they didn’t hesitate to give chase. “Stop!” someone yelled, but Wiona had already spun around and jumped into the nearest taxi.

“I’ll give you five thousand cash if you can lose those people behind us!”

The driver’s eyes widened in disbelief. Five thousand? He suddenly looked more alive than ever, threw the car into gear, and grinned. “Buckle up then!”

The cab shot off down the street, weaving through traffic with a confidence only taxi drivers seemed to have. In this city, nobody was faster than a cabbie on a mission. Within twenty minutes, they had left her pursuers far behind.

True to her word, Wiona transferred the money before jumping out at the next block. The driver was still staring at his phone, as if he couldn’t believe his luck. Wiona didn’t waste a second. She ducked into a narrow alley, wrapped her scarf around most of her head and face, then popped the SIM card right out of her phone.

Yesterday, Conrad had found her almost instantly after she was taken to the police station. She knew it was because he could track her number. She wasn’t about to make that mistake again. Thankfully, she always kept some cash stashed away for emergencies. It was enough to get her by for a few days.

She left the alley and flagged down another taxi. “Please take me to the best inn in the city,” she told the driver, doing her best to sound relaxed.

At that same moment, Conrad was staring at the blinking red dot on his phone. Suddenly, it disappeared.

Wiona was gone.

A slow, dangerous smile crept onto his face. “Not bad, Wiona. You actually managed to get away from me.” The air inside the private jet felt tense and heavy. Nobody dared to speak.

Conrad’s mood had been stormy ever since Libby came to confess everything to him. It only got worse when he heard from the hospital that Wiona had never shown up for her checkup. In a flash, he realized something wasn’t right. He checked her phone’s location and realized she was already at the airport.

“Trying to run away?” He could only think of one reason. She must have something to hide. For the first time, Conrad realized Wiona might not be as clueless about the baby as she had let on.

And that made him furious. Not because she found out, but because she thought she could just run away. Did she really think he would abandon her or the child? Or refuse to take responsibility? This wasn’t a decision she got to make on her own.

Libby was already on her way to Anatrtica, exiled for the next ten years at least. Conrad didn’t hesitate. He got on his private jet, determined to land in the city where Wiona’s flight last touched down and bring her back himself.
