Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 239

Wiona never went to the hospital for any checkup. As soon as the Sullivan family’s driver dropped her at the hospital entrance and drove away, she called a taxi, got in, and went straight to the airport. She didn’t care where she was headed, just bought a ticket for the next flight out. It just so happened that plane was going to Willowwood, a place she’d always wanted to visit. There was no time to think about anything else. She just needed to get away. That was the only thing that felt safe.

The plane took off quickly. Staring out the window, Wiona watched the city fading beneath her. Her mind was racing at first, but then a strange calm settled in. Once she left Stonehill, things would get better. They had to. She placed her hand gently on her stomach and whispered, “It’s okay. I won’t let anyone take you away from me.”

Conrad already knew the truth. He was going to go after everyone who had set him up. Wiona knew her own path was clear.

She had to disappear. She had planned to leave anyway. The divorce papers with Jace weren’t finalized yet, but she’d already asked Tina and her lawyer, to take care of it. She still had dirt on Kellen, so she wasn’t worried about Jace refusing to sign. She just wouldn’t show up in person.

She didn’t say anything to anyone at the café. She was worried that the more Mason knew, the more trouble he’d be in if Conrad came looking for her. She owed Conrad half a month of work, but there was nothing she could do about that now. She left behind one of her sketchbooks in her room, hoping it might help Alice somehow. Alice’s illness hurt her heart, but compared to her own safety, there was nothing she could do. The reward money would be sent to an overseas account. She’d find a way to get it back to Conrad. The rest… she’d let it all go. It was over.

Wiona closed her eyes, hoping that when she opened them again, she’d be in Willowwood. She went over her plan in her mind. As soon as she landed, she’d switch to the fake identity she’d already prepared, cut her hair, change her look, and just hide out until things blew over. Everything would be fine.

But then the plane gave a violent jolt and woke her up. The captain’s voice came over the intercom, letting everyone know that a sudden thunderstorm had hit Willowwood, and they’d be landing in a nearby city instead.

The rest of the flight was rough. When they finally landed, Wiona, as a business class passenger, should have gotten off first, but everyone was told to stay seated. Thirty minutes went by. The mood on the plane got tense. People were restless and annoyed. First the detour, now this delay with no explanation.

“Why can’t we get off the plane? If we can’t get off, just take us to Willowwood!” someone yelled.

“Yeah, open the doors! We want to get off!”

Other passengers joined in, voices rising. The flight attendants tried to calm everyone down, but it wasn’t working. They gathered at the front, whispering. Wiona noticed them glancing her way again and again. She caught bits of what they were saying.
