Kellen stared, completely unable to believe her eyes. The jewelry in front of her looked like it was spun out of moonlight, impossibly beautiful. It was softer and more enchanting than the moon itself, its glow shifting and gleaming as if it was alive. Anyone who looked at it would be drawn in, unable to look away. All you could do was soak in every little detail, letting your eyes drift over the elegant design and that subtle, flowing shine. Every single piece was stunning.
Ever since Kellen saw a photo of it online, she had been obsessed. That was why she dropped hints to Jace, hoping he’d get her something unique, something no one else could have. But he hadn’t managed it. And now, here it was, in this very garden, under the real moon. It was even more breathtaking than she’d imagined, a thousand times more dazzling than any picture.
“No way… this can’t be real…” she muttered.
“I heard Vivian’s emerald collection was never even for sale,” someone else said. “The moment it was revealed, the internet went wild. Everyone wanted it, everyone was desperate to see it up close.
“How did you get your hands on it? Someone offered ten million and still couldn’t buy it. How could you possibly have it?”
Kellen could feel jealousy burning inside her, twisting her up until she thought she might go mad. Wiona was going to send something so precious to an old woman, and it made no sense. She refused to believe it.
“This set has to be fake,” she snapped, convincing herself even as she said it.
A chilly laugh slipped out. “So, first you claim that tea set was a gift from Cassian. And now you show up with a treasure everyone else in the world was fighting for. Don’t tell me you’re friends with Vivian, the mysterious genius no one has ever even seen?”
Kellen’s words snapped everyone out of their shock.
“Yeah, sure, the Morgan family could get Cassian to make something, that’s not surprising. But Vivian’s designs? People lose their minds over her work. Would Wiona really get it so easily?”
“If she really had that kind of connection, wouldn’t she have bragged about it already? No way. This set has to be fake.”
“Giving a fake gift? After everything the old lady’s done for her?”
“But look at the craftsmanship, that shine. It doesn’t look fake at all…”
