Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 276

Conrad could tell she was feeling down, so he stopped teasing her. “It doesn’t hurt anymore,” he said quietly.

The truth was, there hadn’t even been any bleeding that day. He’d just made it up to make her feel guilty. But now, seeing the look on Wiona’s face, the whole thing just felt pointless.

He pressed his hand to the spot where he’d claimed he was hurt. “Alright, I’ll have Jason and the others take care of it. Go get some rest.”

Wiona blinked, a little lost at being dismissed so suddenly. “Really? So, I can go? But you’re not going to drag me back in for this again, right…?”

Before she could finish, Conrad stood up in one swift motion. Suddenly, he was right in front of her, broad chest and all, and Wiona had to take a big step back just to breathe.

This was bad. She really couldn’t be alone with him anymore. The tension was way too much.

She tried to cool her cheeks with her hand, hoping he didn’t notice.

Conrad, meanwhile, buttoned his shirt as he walked over to his desk. He picked up a file and held it out to her. “Sign this.”

Wiona took it, squinting at the cover. “What is it?”

“It’s an agreement about co-parenting,” Conrad replied, watching her carefully. “The details aren’t all finalized yet, but if you’re willing, you can sign right now. If there’s anything you’re unhappy with later, we can void it. No strings attached.”

Why sign it now, then? Wiona’s guard instantly went up. Was there a catch? But knowing Conrad, he probably wouldn’t do something underhanded. Still… should she really just sign it?

It felt a little like being pushed into a blind marriage.

She hesitated, and Conrad leaned in, just close enough for her to feel the heat of his presence but not quite touching her. His voice dropped. “Do you think I’d trick you? I just need you to show me you’re serious, Ms. Morgan. I need to know you won’t disappear with my kids again. After all, you’re free to do whatever you want right now.”

Wiona’s heart skipped a beat. Was he trying to sweet-talk her? And those words—“my kids”—sent a rush of unfamiliar panic through her. There was nothing between them, but hearing it from his mouth made everything feel messy and complicated.

And he was worried she’d run? Hadn’t she already proven that, no matter where she went in this country, there was no escaping him? The thought left her feeling helpless.

She’d seen what Mr. Sullivan was capable of. Even if she refused to share custody, could she really get away from him?
