“Wait for my call.”
Wiona hung up and then dialed Mason without wasting a second. “Jace has taken Adler. I need you to track Jace down and let me know what you find. Also, Molly’s still at the nursing home. If you have time, could you bring her to the cafe?”
The second Mason heard Molly’s name, he agreed right away, sounding almost relieved to have something to do.
Wiona ended the call and, without thinking twice, called Korey. She walked over to the window, watching the world outside as she waited for him to pick up. “Hi Korey, it’s Wiona.”
Korey sounded surprised. He glanced toward Mr. Sullivan, who was still busy with important guests, and lowered his voice. “Ms. Morgan, is this about the Salisbury family? You don’t have to worry. There won’t be anything about you online. Mr. Sullivan has already set up a team to watch everything 24/7. If anything even mentions you, it’ll be handled right away.”
For the first time, Wiona understood what real power looked like. The Morgan and Salisbury families together couldn’t compete with the Sullivan Group. No wonder the Salisburys kept getting caught up in scandals, unable to manage the fallout.
She paused for a moment, letting it sink in. “Thank you.”
She knew she’d already caused enough trouble. With Mason on Adler’s case, things should be okay. As long as she stayed inside Hawthorne Hall, there was no way Jace could get to her. He was desperate now, running out of options. If she just ignored him, he couldn’t do anything.
Feeling a little lighter, she hung up.
Korey was left a bit confused. Still, he knew better than to keep anything from Mr. Sullivan. As soon as Conrad’s meeting ended, Korey brought it up. “Mr. Sullivan, Ms. Morgan called me. She didn’t really say anything before hanging up. Maybe she wanted to thank us for the online PR?”
Korey adjusted his glasses, feeling a little proud, but Conrad just shot him a cold look. “Why does she even have your number? If anyone’s getting thanked, it should be me. When did you get in line before me?”
Korey was stunned for a second. Was that really the part Conrad was focused on?
“Block her,” Conrad said, then walked away, phone in hand.
Korey could only sigh to himself. He hadn’t given Wiona his number, so how was he supposed to know how she got it? This was so unfair. And Conrad hadn’t even won Wiona’s heart yet. He was still just a maybe, and already jealous? Did Wiona know how possessive he could be?
Korey almost wanted to complain to her, but he thought better of it. His career was more important right now, so he just swallowed his frustration.
