Conrad’s face changed in an instant.
“Drive. To the hospital.”

Wiona trembled the whole way there. Sweat clung to her forehead, her skin pale as a sheet. She looked like she could pass out at any second.
Jace felt his heart drop. He squeezed her hand and tried to comfort her, his words tumbling out one after another. “It’s alright, Wiona. We’re almost there. I promise I’ll make all of this up to you. I’ll treat you right from now on. We’ll figure everything out. I’ll be the husband you deserve. Don’t be scared. Everything’s going to be okay. The babies is going to be fine. Trust me, trust your husband…”
Before he could say more, Wiona’s eyes rolled back and she slumped over, completely unconscious.
“Wiona! Wiona!” Jace shouted, panic in his voice.
A nurse nearby leaned over and said, “Mr. Salisbury, your wife… she’s just sleeping.”

As soon as they got to the hospital, Jace lost it. He started yelling, demanding that everyone stop what they were doing and save Wiona right now. He even threatened to ruin the entire hospital if anything happened to her or the babies.
Every doctor and nurse in the hallway froze and stared at him.
Inside the operating room, the staff whispered to each other, annoyed.
“Where was he when this happened? Can’t even protect his own wife, now he’s blaming us?”
“Yeah, sure, he’s loaded. He could probably buy this whole place and shut it down if he wanted. So what?”
“Ugh, these rich guys, always acting like they own the world.”
Everyone was fuming until the hospital director and Dr. Monroe walked in.
