Meanwhile, Liam burst onto the scene, fighting off rogues who were attacking Katie.

Some had already injured her, and she lay limp in his arms.

“Katie, stay with me! Stay with me!” Liam shook her gently, his hands stained with her blood.

Katie’s eyes flickered open, and she gazed up at him, her voice barely audible.

“Liam…”

“Don’t talk, Katie. I’ve got you. You’re going to be okay.”

When Katie’s eyes snapped open later, she saw she was in the hospital.

She was getting sick of this already.

She sat up with a start.

But instead of Lucian, Liam’s face greeted her.

She pursed her lips. “How come you happen to be the one saving me all the time these days?”

He really wasn’t there. And Katie felt very much uneasy about it.

Meanwhile, Lucian woke up with his head pounding.

His eyes grew wide as he found Maya by his side. “Maya, what the heck are you doing on my

bed?”

Maya’s gaze was casual, her voice slow. “Oh, my goodness, it’s still early in the morning for you to be barking at me like this.”

Lucian’s face darkened. “Get the hell up, what are you doing on my bed? Where’s Katie?”

3.11 pm

She fluttered her lashes innocently. “I’m so sorry, but like, I didn’t understand you last night Somehow, you weren’t able to resist me, and no matter what you did, you didn’t want to leave me

alone.”

Lucian scowled at her. “That’s not possible. Why would I want you?”

Suddenly, memories of the previous night flooded back, and his face turned grim. “I was drugged. You drugged me.”

She shook her head vigorously. “Why would I do such a thing? Some of the pack members have been shipping us together as a couple. Maybe one of them did this..”

Lucian’s eyes blazed with anger as he growled and grabbed Maya’s wrist. “How stupid do yo think I am?” he snarled, his grip tightening. “I know you’re the one who drugged me.”

Maya’s face contorted in pain. “You’re hurting me! Let me go!”

“Where the hell is Katie!”

Maya’s eyes darted back and forth. “I don’t know. She didn’t even come home last night.”

Lucian’s gaze narrowed. “That’s weird.”

She huffed. “Maybe she started to enjoy herself somewhere, or maybe she stayed at the mansion alone.”

Lucian’s face twisted in anger. “Shut up!” he barked. “I can feel it. Something’s wrong. She’s i danger.”

He turned to Maya, his eyes blazing with fury. “You’d better not let anyone know about this especially that nothing happened between us last night.”

Maya’s smile was sly. “Why are you talking like that? Something did happen between us las night, and it was magical.”

Lucian was irked. “Nothing happened, I tell you! I didn’t touch you. You’d better get dressed and jet out of my room before I lose my temper.”

Maya pouted, unhappy to hear that.

He didn’t wait for her to respond. He rushed out of the room, determined to find Katie and make sure she was safe.

He called on his beta to ask if he knew anything.

His face twisted in anger as he received the news “Katie’s hurt? Attacked by rogues?”

His beta nodded. “Yes, Alpha. I was trying to reach you, but you were unreachable.”

Lucian’s eyes blazed with fury. “It’s because of that Maya. I didn’t think she’d stoop so low.” He barked orders at his beta. “Send me the address of the hospital. I’m coming right now.”

Meanwhile, Katie’s world was crumbling around her.

She received a message from Maya, with attachments that made her blood run cold.
