Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 109

Emmy snapped back to reality in an instant, wide awake and mortified. Her face flamed as red as a tomato. She scrambled off his lap, nearly tripping in her rush to slide back into her own seat.

She ducked her head so low it felt like she’d disappear into her own chest. There was no way she was looking at him—not even a peek.

Awkward silence settled over their table, thick and heavy. But from the next table over, Dean’s voice cut through, way too loud to be accidental.

“Eve, once I get through this week, I’ll fly overseas and bring your mom here. We should start planning our wedding. Wouldn’t want certain people holding onto silly hopes and refusing to move on.”

Evelina responded in her soft, gentle way. “Dean, you always think of everything. My mom’s going to be so happy about our wedding.”

Dean let out a cold, mocking laugh. “Naturally. I’m not like some people who live off their girlfriends, rushing into marriage without even meeting her family. No manners at all. Hardly even a man, honestly.”

Emmy barely heard any of it. Her mind was still spinning and buzzing.

All she could think about was that kiss.

She wasn’t some clueless teenager—she and Dean had kissed more times than she could count. But none of those kisses had ever made her feel this way. She was jumpy, hyper-aware of every little thing.

James’s lips had been warm against hers.

The second he kissed her, it felt like something crashed straight into her chest.

He’d even lingered on her upper lip, sucking it softly.

His tongue, hot and teasing, brushed lightly along her teeth.

That feeling was on a whole different level—way more intense than anything she’d ever felt with Dean.

Honestly, Emmy couldn’t help thinking—James was so much better at kissing than Dean ever was. The thought was ridiculous, but there it was. Maybe it was all thanks to that legendary ex-girlfriend of his.

Across from her, James seemed lost in his own head too, replaying the kiss.

Dean silently downed two glasses of ice water before the pain in his throat finally eased.

Evelina, eyes shining with tears, apologized in a trembling voice. “Dean, I’m so sorry… it’s my fault. I should’ve checked the fish.”

Dean was gentle for a moment. “It’s not your fault. Your hands aren’t meant for that kind of thing.”

Then his voice went cold as he turned to the waiter. “We don’t need your help. Someone here is way more qualified.”

With that, he picked up the plate of steamed fish, walked over, and set it right in front of Emmy.

Standing over her, Dean looked down and said, “Emmy, if you can pick out every single bone from this fish, I’ll forgive whatever you just did. I’ll still treat you like a sister.”

He glanced at James with obvious disdain. “And I’ll even help you find a man a hundred times better than this guy right here.”
