Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 127

The next morning, Emmy left the house a full thirty minutes early, slipping out with her car before anyone else was even awake.

No way was she about to run to work in this kind of sauna weather.

She spent the entire morning getting things done and didn’t waste a second. First, she handed over the evidence Steve had given her to the police and stood there as they hauled away Quinnie, who looked like she couldn’t believe this was actually happening.

Second, she had the legal team call Cooper with a message that couldn’t be clearer: either unfreeze her bank cards and return the thirty million from her trust fund right now, or get ready for a court summons and watch her expose everything in front of a judge.

By the afternoon, her phone buzzed with a text.

Her bank cards were unfrozen, and the thirty million was back in her account—just like that.

Emmy’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. The first thing she did was send out all the back pay that Forward Technology owed its employees.

She barely had time to take a breath before her phone rang again.

Cooper was practically screaming. “You ungrateful brat! Get back to the house right now! And bring that useless pretty boy with you!”

Emmy’s voice was cold as ice. “If you have a point, get to it. Otherwise, I’m hanging up.”

“You—!”

She hung up without a second thought.

Finally, some peace. But it lasted only three minutes.

The housekeeper called, voice full of panic. “Miss Emmy, please come home! Your uncle Gregory and your aunt are here, madam can’t handle them alone…”

Just picturing her mom dealing with those vultures by herself made Emmy see red. She grabbed her keys and headed out the door.

“I’m on my way.”

She’d barely pulled out of the garage when a black Maybach slammed to a stop right in front of her, blocking her path.

The door flew open and Dean rushed up to her window, knocking like his life depended on it.

“Hey—James?” Will blinked, then glanced back at the Maybach, cursing under his breath.

He pulled out his phone and called traffic enforcement. “Hey, I want to report a car blocking the fire station entrance. Yeah, the black Maybach. Could you send someone to tow it? Thanks.”

By the time he hung up, James was already tearing out of the parking lot in his own car.

A few firefighters wandered over, looking confused. “Will, what’s with James? Who pissed him off this time? The way he looked at me just now almost gave me a heart attack.”

Will shook his head with a sigh.

“We’re screwed, guys.”

“James just met some seriously tough competition.”

“Did you see that Maybach? That’s a multi-million dollar car, and they just left it sitting on the street—just to chase after our girl.”
