Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 180

The door clicked softly shut.

Emmy was still gripping the contract, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it might burst right out of her chest. She was so keyed up she barely slept a wink. All night, the glow from the living room lights seeped in through the crack under her door, keeping her company.

She woke up at the crack of dawn. The moment she stepped out of her bedroom, the smell of breakfast hit her—warm and inviting. On the dining table, sandwiches and freshly fried eggs were already laid out. James was pouring milk when he spotted her and slid a steaming glass over.

“You barely ate yesterday. You must be starving. Drink some hot milk first.”

Emmy downed the milk in one gulp, grabbed a sandwich, and headed for the door. “I’m going home to change. I have to stop by the law firm!”

She was gone before he could say another word, vanishing like a gust of wind. James stared at the empty glass, muttering to himself, “Looks like she’s back to her old self.”

But when Emmy opened the door to her bedroom at her own apartment, she stopped dead in her tracks.

Her tiny bed—barely big enough for one—had somehow been swapped out for an enormous king-sized one. The new bed was made up with crisp, gray sheets, and a few plush toys—exactly like the ones from her room at the villa—were lined up at the headboard. One of the bunny plushies even had a note stuck to its ear, the handwriting bold and unmistakable.

This bed’s solid, don’t worry about it breaking. I’m moving in tonight.

Emmy’s eyes widened, every nerve on high alert. Just thinking about his insane stamina and bottomless appetite made her shiver. She picked up her phone, ready to type out a gentle rejection, but before she could hit send, her phone rang—the law firm calling.

She answered right away.

“Ms. Lincoln, did you receive the contract? Everything is ready on our end. We can notarize whenever you like.”

“I’ll be there soon,” Emmy said.

She hung up, quickly changed clothes, and caught a glimpse of the marks on her neck in the mirror. With a sigh, she reached for her compact and carefully covered them up.

When Emmy arrived at the law office, she immediately spotted Cooper, his face dark as thunder. Gregory and Aunt Sally were there too. The moment Aunt Sally saw her, she twisted her face in fury and lunged, eyes wild.

“You shameless little tramp! Keeping a man at home while seducing Mr. Nelson?”

Cooper slammed his hand on the table, shaking with rage. “Shameless! How did I end up with a daughter like you?”

Emmy let out a cold laugh. “And you think you have any shame? Cheating on Mom with the student she was sponsoring?”

Cooper’s face turned purple. He raised his hand to slap her.

“You ungrateful brat!”

But before his hand could land, Emmy’s bodyguard was already there, grabbing Cooper’s wrist and holding him back.

Cooper winced, barking, “How dare you lay a hand on me! Let go of me right now!”

Emmy sat calmly, not even blinking.

At that moment, the lawyer set the contract down. “Ms. Lincoln, everything looks good. I’ll get the notarization process started immediately.” He glanced at Cooper, his tone official. “Effective now, Ms. Lincoln will hold forty percent of Starlight Corporation’s shares. Mr. Lincoln, after this transfer, you’ll only have fifteen percent in your name.”
