Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 202

The attendant took Emmy’s card, ready to swipe it.

“Move!” barked a man behind her, shoving his way forward and slamming into her shoulder.

Emmy staggered, nearly falling. In the next instant, a strong hand caught her, steadying her just as a rush of air whipped past her ear.

A dull thud echoed behind her. The man who’d cut in line was now sprawled at the back, courtesy of a swift, merciless kick.

Emmy was still catching her breath, ready to turn and thank whoever saved her. But when she looked up, she found herself staring right into Dean’s cold, stormy eyes.

She couldn’t help but frown.

Dean slapped a black card onto the counter, his voice chilly. “Put it on mine.”

A wave of anger shot through Emmy. Her response was just as frosty. “I don’t need your help.”

Dean looked down at her, impatience flickering in his eyes. “I know exactly how much money you have. For your mom’s sake, this isn’t the time to be stubborn.”

Emmy pressed her lips together, refusing to look away. “I said I’m not using your money. I’ll figure it out.”

She turned to the attendant. “Can I have my card back? I’ll come back later.”

The attendant gaped at her. “Are you sure, ma’am?”

That plain little debit card actually had more than a hundred million in it. The man next to her looked clueless. Was this some lovers’ spat, or had the wife been hiding a fortune all along?

Not daring to ask, the attendant just handed the card back, seeing Emmy’s determined look.

As Emmy reached out, her sleeve slipped up, revealing a simple platinum band on her ring finger, catching the light with a cool gleam.

Dean’s eyes narrowed, sharp and dark.

It was like he’d been stung. He grabbed her wrist tight and, without a word, dragged her down the hall.

His grip was so strong it hurt.

Dean’s face darkened. “Desperate? You are! Why else would you rush off and marry some firefighter? You have zero standards now. Do you even know what kind of guy he is?”

“He hangs out in shady bars, breaks women’s wrists for fun. Aren’t you afraid he’ll come home drunk and beat you to death?”

Emmy let out a cold laugh. “Did Evelina tell you that? She tried to seduce James, couldn’t get her way, and now she’s blaming me? Maybe worry about yourself for once. Make sure you didn’t catch anything nasty from Evelina.”

Dean’s jaw clenched. “Don’t you dare drag Evelina into this. She’s never said a bad word about you. But you can’t stop trashing her.”

Emmy laughed, totally done. “Then I guess we have nothing left to say.”

She suddenly drove her knee up—just like James had taught her.

Dean doubled over in pain, but his anger only boiled over. He lunged, trying to force a kiss.

Emmy’s eyes flashed. She reacted without thinking, using the second trick James had shown her. She jerked her head up, slamming it into Dean’s nose.

A loud crack rang out. Warm blood gushed from Dean’s nose, pain written all over his face.
