Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 274

She couldn’t be bothered to explain. She just pulled open the car door and slid into the back seat.

She didn’t expect Dean to come after her, but there he was, trying to get in, too.

The bodyguard reacted right away, blocking the door.

“Mr. Sparrow, this is Ms. Lincoln’s car. Please respect her space.”

Dean’s face darkened, but he didn’t argue. Instead, he circled around, yanked open the front passenger door, and climbed in.

The bodyguard looked exasperated and started forward, ready to drag him out.

“Emmy, can we just talk?” Dean said.

Emmy was already annoyed. “There’s nothing to talk about. If you’re here to beg me to save Evelina, you can get out now.”

“I haven’t slept in almost two days. I’m still not even healed. Just let me sit here for a bit, okay?” Dean’s voice softened, raw with exhaustion.

The bodyguard reached for him, but Dean spun around, glaring, his eyes cold and dangerous.

“If you touch me, your career ends today.”

The bodyguard glanced at Emmy, hesitating. “Ms. Lincoln?”

Emmy pressed her fingers to her forehead, clearly frustrated, and waved him off.

The bodyguard stepped back, got in the back, and shut the door.

The car started moving toward Nelson Corporation. Dean’s voice drifted from up front, rough and tired.

“Emmy, stop selling yourself out for Starlight Corporation shares.”

“I can get you whatever stake you want.”

His voice was low, aching. “Just stop throwing yourself at Mr. Nelson.”

Emmy’s brow furrowed. She almost laughed—it was so ridiculous.

“Selling myself out?” She let out a cold little laugh. “Dean, do you really think last night was all my doing?”

She looked up, eyes icy, lips curled in a mocking smile.

“Did you find all this out yourself, Dean?”

Dean’s eyes were so red it looked like he might cry blood.

“Did I even need to? You couldn’t even cover up the marks on your neck with makeup. Emmy, even when we were together, you never went that crazy.”

The bodyguard, who’d been pretending not to listen, suddenly looked a lot more interested.

Emmy hadn’t expected Dean to say something like that with someone else in the car. Her anger flared up.

Her voice turned cold as ice. “I don’t have the time or energy to stage such trashy little games.”

“If my dad hadn’t called me last night, begging me to stop Evelina and her mom from getting their claws into Mr. Nelson, I wouldn’t have even shown up.”

She let out a short, scornful laugh. “Your precious Evelina isn’t nearly as pure as you think.”

“If her plan had worked, she would’ve dumped you in a heartbeat. You really think you’re that important to her?”
