Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 318

Juan had no idea Emmy already had everything mapped out in her mind.

When this deal finally went through, who would get to claim the credit? It’d all be logged as his accomplishment while he was CEO. Why should she let someone else take the win for her hard work?

Besides, she’d already reached out to the other side in secret. She had told them straight up—she was working on an AI program made for search and rescue drones. Once the AI competition was over and her program was polished, the fire department could have it right away. She was even willing to let them use the Dome for free.

But partner up? Not happening—at least not now.

She had her own plan: wait until next year, when she’d finally be sitting in the CEO’s chair at Starlight Corporation. Then, she could negotiate with the government herself and make sure the credit landed exactly where she wanted.

Juan, of course, had no clue she was already five steps ahead of him. All he felt was this pressure in his chest, stuck and impossible to shake. Talking to Emmy felt pointless—like hitting a brick wall.

He tried to keep his cool and took a deep breath, lowering his voice. “Emmy, Starlight Corporation’s been struggling for years. If it keeps up like this, we’ll be left in the dust within two years.”

Emmy just gave him a thin, icy smile.

“You’re the CEO, not me. I’m just a shareholder cashing my dividends. If you want this deal, go fight for it yourself. Don’t come looking for me—I’ve got plenty on my plate.”

With that, she turned and started to walk away.

“Emmy!” Juan called after her, voice sharp and frustrated. “Is it because I helped Evelina? Is that why you don’t even want to look at me, let alone help?”

Emmy paused, glancing over her shoulder. The light cut across her face, half-shadowed. Her eyes were calm and distant, and it made Juan uneasy.

“Yeah, you could say that.”

Juan sucked in a shaky breath. “So what would it take for you to negotiate this project?”

Emmy actually looked like she was thinking about it. She tipped her head, then suddenly smiled.

“Give me every share of Starlight Corporation you own, and I’ll do it.”

Juan stared at her in disbelief. “You—are you obsessed with shares or something? Have you lost your mind?”

Her smile only grew, but she didn’t bother to answer. She turned and walked off the balcony, leaving Juan standing there, furious and alone.

“Wait, hold on!” Juan cut in quickly. “Are you really not going to marry Evelina?”

This time, Dean was quiet for a few seconds.

“You know me. I can’t get over some things.”

Juan instantly lost his temper. “Seriously? Dean, the old days are long gone! Who’s still pure these days? What matters is if she’s a good person!”

Dean just frowned, thinking if Emmy hadn’t married that firefighter, she’d still be untouched—safe under his protection, perfect in every way. But now… she wasn’t.

Just thinking about it made his chest hurt, like someone was pounding on him with a heavy fist. He couldn’t listen anymore and hung up.

The line went dead with a cold beep.

Juan stared at his phone and let out a cold, mocking laugh.

“If you don’t appreciate Evelina, then don’t blame me for what happens next.”
