Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 330

The virtual world blinked out, and suddenly Emmy was staring straight into Mrs. Nelson’s eyes—bright with excitement and a hint of mischief.

Emmy pushed down the strange feeling lingering in her chest and managed a smile.

“Grandma, your grandson was really handsome when he was young.”

“Right? I knew you’d notice!” Mrs. Nelson’s whole face lit up, her wrinkles deepening with her grin. “He’s always been the one I worry about the most!”

She gave Emmy’s hand a squeeze, her eyes glinting as she leaned in to whisper, “How about I introduce you to my oldest grandson? He’d make a great husband for you.”

Before Emmy could answer, someone coughed at the doorway.

She looked over and saw Mr. Nelson standing there. At some point, he’d slipped in, dressed in a sharp black suit, leaning against the doorframe like he owned the place. He had that distant, don’t-mess-with-me vibe down to an art.

For a split second, Emmy’s mind flashed to that boy in white playing piano in the VR world. The weird feeling of being caught between two realities just got stronger.

Mr. Nelson’s tone was cool, almost icy. “Grandma, Ms. Lincoln is already married. You really shouldn’t play matchmaker so freely.”

Mrs. Nelson shot him a glare. This kid—always so quick to change his clothes.

She bounced back immediately, grabbing Emmy’s hand again. “Emmy, didn’t you say you broke up with your boyfriend?”

She didn’t even pause. “If you don’t like the first one, what about this grandson? He’s single too!”

Emmy couldn’t help but laugh, shaking her head. “Grandma, James is already married. And actually, so am I.”

Mrs. Nelson’s smile froze. She let go of Emmy’s hand, her eyes wide with disbelief.

“You’re married? Really?”

She looked back and forth between Emmy and the grandson at the door, as if she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“You’re such a sweet girl—why’d you go and get married so young?”

All this time, she’d thought of that fortune as nothing more than a funny story. But now, every word echoed in her mind, sharp as ever.

“What did he say?” Tyler pressed gently.

Emmy steadied herself, her mouth suddenly dry. “He said my fate was hanging by a thread. One wrong move, and I’d lose everything. But if I made the right choice, I’d soar.”

“He also said… I was protected by the light of good deeds. Even if I fell into the darkest place, I’d get another chance. He told me… not to be afraid.”

Another chance.

The light of good deeds.

Was it all the charity work she and her mom had done over the years? Was that why she’d been given this second shot at life?

James, still in the doorway, had lost all his earlier laziness. His dark eyes were locked on her, searching for answers she wasn’t sure she had.
