Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 401

That paternity test only worked because Danny had snuck into her bedroom and stolen a few strands of hair.

And even after that, Emmy still kept him close.

Someone like Claudia would never just let that slide. Of course she’d be suspicious.

The second Emmy asked, Danny’s whole body went tense. Shame and nerves flashed in his eyes.

“She… she definitely had her doubts,” he admitted, voice shaky, like he was reliving something awful. “She even sent people to… force the truth out of me.”

“But I swore, Ms. Lincoln. I swore I’d never betray you again. Not in this lifetime.”

“So I told her you never doubted me, that I was still your most trusted right hand. Coincidentally, Teresa was discharged from the hospital at that time, and you pulled all her bodyguards. I said you suspected them instead, and that’s why you let them all go.”

Emmy frowned. Something about that explanation didn’t sit right.

“What did she do to you?” she asked, her voice soft but sharp.

Danny went pale.

He knew—after what he’d done, Ms. Lincoln would never fully trust him again. Not completely. Even if this was… humiliating.

But he gritted his teeth, made up his mind, and started undoing his suit buttons, one by one.

When his shirt slid off, Emmy’s eyes widened in shock.

His lean sides and back were covered in cigarette burns. Old wounds, scabbed over in dark patches.

Emmy’s expression iced over.

She hadn’t thought Claudia would be so ruthless. So downright vicious.

Danny’s hands paused at his waistband. In the end, he didn’t go any further. He didn’t tell Ms. Lincoln that the burns on his thighs outnumbered all the others combined.

He pulled his shirt back on, buttoned up. His voice was rough, but steady.

“Ms. Lincoln, I’m not showing you this for sympathy. I’m not trying to win back your trust with scars. I just want you to know—I betrayed you once, and for that, I deserve anything. Every scar, every bit of pain. I earned all of it.”

“But from the day I swore loyalty to you, my life has been yours. No matter what Claudia does, even if she puts a gun to my head, I’ll never betray you again.”

“All I ask,” his voice shook as he took a breath, “is that you trust me one last time.”

Emmy pressed her lips together.

Claudia. Evelina.

Everything those women did to her and her mom, Emmy would give right back to them. She’d push them to the brink, take what they loved most, and grind their pride into the dirt—even if it meant she had to walk right up to the edge of the law.

She’d make them suffer a thousand times worse than anything she and her mother had endured.

Emmy took a deep breath, forcing down the anger boiling inside.

“Put your shirt on and head back,” she said quietly.

“Yes, Ms. Lincoln.”

Danny quickly buttoned up, threw on his jacket, gave her a deep bow, and hurried out of the study.

Emmy grabbed her phone, wandered over to the window, and dialed Abriella.

The call picked up almost instantly, and Abriella’s voice came through—lazy, with just a hint of annoyance.

“Hey, Emmy, miss me already? The devil boss dumped me at this hotel for a crack-of-dawn meeting, and I’m bored out of my mind. There’s literally no one here I know.”

Emmy listened to her rambling, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Are you busy today?”
