Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 443

Emmy shoved Dean’s hand away. “We can’t go back, Dean. Not anymore.”

Her words were soft, but they sliced right through him, sharp as a blade, cutting off whatever fragile hope he’d been holding onto.

“As for the money you spent to save me—if I make it out of here alive, I’ll pay you back every penny. You have my word.”

The tenderness in Dean’s eyes vanished, replaced by a flare of anger. He lunged forward, trapping Emmy beneath him on the bamboo bed.

“Do you even have a heart?” His voice was low and shaking, every word laced with jealousy and pain. “I risked my life for you. Why are you still so cold to me?”

“You’re still thinking about him, aren’t you? That firefighter?”

“He’s nothing. He’s useless. Maybe he’s some kind of hero, but right now, I’m the one here risking everything for you. I’m the only one who can get you out of this place.”

“He doesn’t deserve you. He can’t protect you. He sure as hell can’t save you.”

Emmy didn’t even try to fight him. She just looked at him, her eyes calm and clear.

“All this danger—everything that’s happened to me—is because of you,” she said quietly. “Even getting kidnapped and ending up here… Don’t pretend it has nothing to do with you.”

Dean laughed, but it was a broken sound. His eyes were bloodshot, rimmed with tears he refused to let fall.

“So you’re really going to spend your whole life with that guy, just to spite me? Throw away your own happiness just to get back at me?”

Emmy squeezed her eyes shut for a second, her brow creased with exhaustion.

“When are you going to get it? We got a second chance at life for a reason—a chance to make different choices. We both picked our own paths. Isn’t it enough to just let each other go?”

“No,” Dean snapped, completely losing it. He grabbed at her shirt, yanking desperately at the fabric.

“We got a second chance so we could fix everything. So you could finally see me. If you just had my child, things could go back to the way they were!”

Emmy summoned every bit of strength she had left and slapped him, hard.

The sound echoed in the little bamboo hut, but Dean barely reacted. He didn’t even turn his head.

“Separate them!”

A group of burly men surged forward, yanking the blanket away. Emmy and Dean were dragged off the bed and forced to their knees on the hard bamboo floor before they could even think to resist.

“What the hell are you doing, Pearl?” Dean spat, his glare full of fury.

Pearl crouched in front of him, a cruel smile on his lips as he patted Dean’s cheek, slow and mocking.

“I was about to ask you the same thing, Mr. Sparrow.”

He looked them both over, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

“Looks like you almost wore her out, but you’re both still dressed. Need a little help with that?”

Without warning, Pearl grabbed Emmy’s bare arm and yanked her toward him, his other hand reaching for her chest.
