Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 461

Abriella’s voice cut through the fog. “Emmy, you’re awake?”

A second later, she practically shouted, panic flooding her words. “Doctor! Doctor! Someone, help!”

Everything around Emmy spun and faded in and out. It wasn’t until she spotted Abriella running over that the dizziness finally started to ease up.

Abriella rushed to her side and grabbed her wrist like it was the only thing keeping her afloat. Her breathing was shaky, but holding on seemed to help her calm down.

“Emmy, are you okay? Please don’t scare me like that,” she said, her voice trembling and thick with tears.

A doctor hurried in, checked Emmy over, and frowned. “She’s suffered a lot of shock. It’s a stress reaction from feeling unsafe.”

“She might have hallucinations for a while. Don’t leave her alone—keep her company and she’ll get through it.”

Abriella’s eyes went red with guilt. She pulled Emmy into a hug, her voice breaking. “I’m so sorry, Emmy. I swear, as long as I’m here, I won’t leave you again.”

She was furious at herself. If she hadn’t stepped out to answer that call last time, none of this would have happened—Emmy never would’ve been taken to some nightmare corner of South America.

And now, even after her cousin begged her to keep watch, she’d left just for a moment while Emmy slept… and look what happened.

Emmy, finally calm, realized the gunshots she’d heard were all in her head.

Her heart finally settled.

She gently pushed Abriella back, swallowing against the dryness in her throat. Her voice was rough.

“I’m fine now, Abriella.”

She paused, then asked the one thing on her mind. “Where’s James?”

Abriella let go and explained quickly, “He had urgent army business. He left early this morning.”

“He asked me to bring you your phone and your safe—said you’d probably need them.”

“He also said you should stay here and rest for a few days, and when he’s done with work, he’ll come get you and take you back to the city for the weekend.”

The doctor had left, so it was just the two of them.

Emmy glanced at the table nearby.

Her phone was there, next to a silver safe.

Inside was the system she needed for the AI International Competition.

She tossed off the covers and hurried over, checking the keypad to make sure nobody had tampered with it.

“It’s over now. See? I’m okay. I’m really fine, so don’t be sad.”

Abriella wiped her tears, suddenly feeling embarrassed that Emmy was the one doing the comforting, like she was the one who’d been through the worst.

“You must be starving. Let me get breakfast sent up for you,” she said, jumping at the chance to change the subject.

Emmy picked up her phone and powered it on, sending quick updates to the friends who’d been worried sick about her.

She didn’t have a huge circle, but her messages were blowing up—Krystina and Nico had nearly filled her inbox, and even Isabel had sent several worried texts.

She replied to each of them, and before long, breakfast arrived.

Abriella avoided mentioning anything about South America, chatting instead about all the wild gossip and drama happening in the city’s high society, just to keep things light while Emmy ate.

Just after breakfast, a nurse rolled in with a cart for an IV drip.

Emmy watched as the nurse got everything ready, prepping the needle and medicine with practiced hands. She couldn’t help but feel confused.

She flexed her wrist, noticing only a few faded bruises and scrapes. She was mostly healed.

“I just have a few scrapes. Do I really need an IV?” she asked, puzzled.
