Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 488

Emmy hadn’t expected this.

She’d been ready to call out Evelina’s plagiarism in front of every reporter, to expose her right on the spot. But the organizing committee was even faster than she’d imagined.

Andrew’s assistant hurried up to her and spoke quietly.

“Ms. Lincoln, good afternoon. I’m Mr. Carter’s assistant.”

“It was on Mr. Carter’s orders that I got the oversight committee involved as soon as possible.”

A flicker of surprise crossed Emmy’s face. She nodded politely. “Please thank him for me.”

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Evelina was falling apart.

She stared at the officers and the report in utter disbelief, her voice rising to a shriek.

“No! No way! This isn’t possible! That patent is mine—I just filed for it! You have to be making a mistake!”

She lunged for the report like she’d lost her mind. “How could Emmy have filed a patent for this last year?”

A committee member blocked her, his face stern. “There’s no mistake in our records, Ms. Evans. Please calm down and stop trying to deny it.”

Evelina suddenly froze, all the color draining from her face. She whirled on Emmy, eyes burning with accusation.

“It was you! You planned this!”

“You gave me DUO’s core code on purpose, while you worked on Infinity behind my back!”

“Emmy, you snake!”

The words sparked chaos in the room.

Everyone was stunned by the wild accusation, by Evelina’s desperate attempt to twist the story.

“Oh my god, so she stole someone else’s work and then tried to accuse the real creator?”

“That’s disgusting. I literally just asked her for an autograph—now I wish I hadn’t!”

“Wait, are you saying Emmy built something as advanced as DUO last year? She must be a genius!”

“Get her out of here. She’s an embarrassment to our whole industry.”

He’d almost ruined Evelina’s hands—almost destroyed her shot at the competition, and in the process, he’d nearly wrecked Emmy’s careful revenge.

Dean swallowed hard, eyes never leaving Emmy up on stage.

She stood under the spotlight, perfectly calm, completely in control—like a diamond finally catching the light after years in the dark.

He’d never realized just how extraordinary she was.

Back when they were together, she’d built all kinds of clever little systems, but he’d dismissed them as nothing more than a hobby, never taking her seriously.

After they got married, she’d given up her career for him, for their home, for seven whole years.

He’d never once truly appreciated her talent.

Only now did Dean see, with a clarity that hurt, just how wrong he’d been.

He’d thrown away a rare gem, treating her like she was nothing special.

His chest ached, heavy with regret, and he felt like he was drowning in it.
