Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 494

Emmy’s mind went completely blank. It was like a buzzing filled her head and everything else faded away.

She stared at Dr. Stamper, not sure she’d heard right. “Wait—what did you just say? That can’t be possible, can it?”

“It’s true,” Dr. Stamper said, his voice calm and certain. “Based on your pulse, you’re already more than three months along. Of course, if you want to double-check, you can go to the hospital.”

Emmy still couldn’t wrap her head around it.

But Teresa was already over the moon. She grabbed Emmy’s hand, her own shaking with excitement. “Oh my god, Emmy! You’re pregnant! I’m going to be a grandma!”

Tears sprang to Teresa’s eyes in an instant.

She’d been through pregnancy and childbirth herself—she knew better than anyone how tough that road could be. It was the happiest news, but it left her heart aching too.

She quickly turned away, dabbing at her eyes before anyone could see.

Watching her mom get so emotional, Emmy just felt more confused. Her thoughts were all tangled.

If she really was pregnant…

Wouldn’t the military hospital have caught it?

A sudden idea hit her. She grabbed her phone, stepped aside, and called someone.

The call connected almost right away.

“Dr. Townsend? Did my results from last week come in?”

“Ms. Lincoln!” Dr. Townsend sounded flustered and rushed. “Your test results have been ready for days! Why haven’t you come to pick them up? Your friend said you’d gone missing—what happened?”

There was a brief pause, and then her voice grew serious.

“You’re pregnant, Ms. Lincoln. You need to take care of yourself.”

Emmy froze. “Wait—are you sure? I’m really pregnant?”

“Of course you are!” Dr. Townsend replied, sounding almost frustrated. “Didn’t I tell your friend? You didn’t know?”

“Ms. Lincoln, not only are you pregnant, but you’re having twins. I’ve been a doctor for years—it’s rare to see naturally conceived twins. You’re very lucky.”

She couldn’t even name what she was feeling. Was it excitement at finally getting what she once wanted so badly? Was it fear about the future? Or just the confusion and panic of suddenly becoming a mom?

Her whole world felt upside down.

“Miss Lincoln, your pulse does show you’re pregnant, but… it seems the babies’ positions are a little unstable,” Dr. Stamper said, snapping her back to reality.

He looked at her seriously. “You’ve been under too much stress, and you’re not getting enough rest. Your body’s exhausted, and that’s not good for you or the babies.”

“You’re young—you might not feel it now, but your body will remember. I’ll write you a prescription. You really need to take care of yourself.”

Teresa’s face went white with worry. She jumped in right away. “Thank you, Dr. Stamper. We’ll make sure to follow your instructions.”

She turned to Marian without missing a beat. “Go, get a big thank-you for Dr. Stamper. This is huge news—don’t let him say no.”

Marian quickly brought over a thick envelope.

Dr. Stamper accepted it with a smile, checked Teresa’s pulse, gave her an acupuncture treatment, and finally left with his medicine bag.
