Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 538

Sylvia perched nervously on the edge of the couch, nodding.

“Yes, I did! I went to Starlight Corporation so many times, but I just couldn’t get in to see you. I honestly ran out of options.”

She gave an awkward little smile. “I heard you sometimes stop by Luminous Chamber, so I figured I’d try my luck. I can’t believe you’re actually here!”

She quickly dug through her bag, pulled out a thick project proposal, and offered it with both hands, clearly hoping not to overstep.

“Ms. Lincoln, I have this project to support local farmers. It needs the Dome’s technology to really make a difference. Would you mind taking a look? Just a few minutes, if you have them.”

Emmy reached out and took the proposal.

Sylvia’s heart nearly stopped.

She’d pitched this project up and down Starlight Corporation, from department managers all the way to the president, and every single time, she’d been turned down.

A project for farmers? Nobody thought there was money in it. Too much work, not enough reward, and no investor wanted to pour cash into something that looked like a black hole.

But then, a few days ago, she read an interview with Emmy.

Starlight’s biggest shareholder. Founder of the Dome. The brains behind Infinity.

When Sylvia realized the genius who created Infinity—a national-level social system, given away for free—was this young woman, something inside her reignited.

Someone who could build Infinity wouldn’t just care about quick profits. Her vision had to be bigger.

Ms. Lincoln might be her last shot.

If even Emmy said no, this project really was done for.

Sylvia watched, barely breathing, as Emmy opened the proposal.

She figured Emmy would just skim the first page to be polite.

But she didn’t.

Emmy read every word, flipping through each page with long, elegant fingers, her focus sharp like she was reviewing a billion-dollar contract.

Time ticked by. Sylvia’s heart pounded harder with every second.

“I know better than anyone how hard those farmers work. They pour everything into sending their kids to college, but hardly any of those kids want to come back to the land.”

Her voice was thick with empathy and frustration.

“Most of the fruit and veggies we eat now are pumped out of factories. They look great, but they’re loaded with chemicals. Pretty, but definitely not healthy.”

“Everyone’s trying to get into finance, tech, or e-commerce. The market’s so packed it’s about to burst. But almost nobody wants to look back at agriculture, even though it’s the foundation of everything.”

She looked up, eyes bright and determined, meeting Emmy’s gaze.

“That’s why I want to do this project. I have three reasons.”

“First, I want the people who work the hardest to finally earn enough to live with dignity.”

“Second, I want city folks like us to eat food that’s truly safe and healthy.”

“And third…” She paused for a moment. “I want to prove that business isn’t just about chasing the next big thing. If we focus on what really matters, we can still create something amazing.”
